  1. Excellent explanation of the product usage. Animation is simple, well executed and to the point. I can see why you would prefer a more natural sagging of the components but this is not intended to be "realistic" but informative. For the average client interested in the product, the way it looks right now offer a better visual description as everything is holding up. My 2 cents... Superb production, congrats.
  2. Bonjour Christian! Here is a little movie I made showing different flags values. http://www.rdn.qc.ca/eias/Flag_References.mov Attached is the Long Flag I made awhile back. I hope it will steer you in the right direction. EIAS_long_flag.zip
  3. Great job! EIAS & Video Copilot is a winning combination. Congrats.
  4. Nutley, If you have a gazillion pieces, when choosing "Inherit scale", hold down the right button to see the options as Set to all, set to children etc. It kinda save time...
  5. Importing the model as .obj should be a breeze. As for importing the animation, that is another story. Somebody more knowledgeable will probably chime in. You mention Collada (Not yet supported by EIAS) and FBX which importation is supported by EIAS. Also check if you can export your Poser animation as MDD as EIAS also supports it.
  6. Unfortunately, I think you are right. For now...
  7. Sorry, I don't have experience in that field. I'm sure others will chime in. Ubershapes comes in at 200 units, that should be comfortable for the system. Most of the time the model or the full scene size was causing problems it was few units or fractions of unit in size. Simply avoid that as a precaution.
  8. Christian, The project opens with empty windows on my machine too. I merged your project into an empty new one, deleted then re-imported the models. I can now see them but I'm not certain everything is as it should be... There is no light in your project. The models are quite small, like 20 units wide. In EIAS, size does matter... It would be prudent to make them larger. Tango-View_Problem.prj.zip
  9. Blair, When Rainbow Studios Acquired Motional Realms and Rick Baltman joined the development team, I really thought Rainbow was the owner of the code. I'm glad to learn he gave it to you. I sincerely hope you find the time to make it up to date or pass the job to someone else for this could prove a great addition to the EIAS toolbox.
  10. I probably don't get your comment right. You can use a texture map as a mask. It can be attached as an alpha channel or a grayscale image. Select "use as mask" for the alpha channel of the image in the "Filter" tab of the "Diffuse" tab. Gees, that sounds complicated...:dodgy:
  11. Alex, Just had a look at your work. This is VERY good. Excellent and imaginative usage of EIAS capabilities. Congratulations!
  12. Was the issue resolved Michael?
  13. Jeremy is a very prominent actor in CG Lighting. His books are excellent and the critics he provides in the lighting challenges are really the main reason to participate. We will probably have challenges and other contests here but, in the mean time, Jeremy's Lighting Challenges are unbeatable! Michael, nice job by the way. Your experience will come to mind if we do our own lighting challenges...
  14. Mainly Form•Z. I own Silo and ViaCad and I'm learning Modo. Chances of ever seeing a new EIM are so slim right now I don't consider it a possibility.
  15. Apu, There are some settings in these projects that might help you get started. http://www.rdnmultimedia.com/eias/Stiffness.mov http://www.rdnmultimedia.com/eias/stiffness100stairs.mov http://www.rdnmultimedia.com/eias/TableCloth.mov http://www.rdnmultimedia.com/eias/SimCloth_tests.zip http://www.rdnmultimedia.com/eias/TableCloth-2.zip
  16. On August 1st, Phillip from EITG stated there is no new development concerning the Modeler. http://www.eitechnologygroup.com/forums/viewthread/1313/ :s:-/:(
  17. Check out these links: http://www.cjberg.com/EI/instancer_6_5.zip http://www.cjberg.com/EI/instancer_6_6.zip http://www.cjberg.com/EI/instancer_7.zip CJ was working on it, don't know if he's finished.
  18. Rob, To render in strips just follow Ian's instructions in this video. Don't forget to add an instance of Placer in each of your slaves. http://www.eias3d.com/process/show_video.php?id=1157&iframe
  19. Christian, I tried many custom shapes today to no avail. Possible bug. Please send me the .fact file you want to use. (send to rick@eias3d.com) I'll make a simple project for the Igors to look into. Can you animate your camera when you use PixelGrains? I can't.
  20. Bonjour Christian I will check it out tomorrow but is the shape linked at the plug and sitting at 0,0,0? Have you tried increasing the Y value in the pixelgrains window?
  21. Nice! I hope for you they take it. It conveys the idea perfectly!
  22. Outstanding work Diego! Well worth the year it took to realize. You are an inspiration to us all. Thanks for sharing!
  23. Frankg, I'm not sure I get the meaning of "store them". They work in V8, you can still use them.
  24. So it's not a problem with MY connection... It was acting lately so it took the blame...
  25. Ever heard of Google Wave? It's a new communication tool from Google Labs with lots of promises. Bear is testing it as an option to Hotline. Check it out, nice place to hang around. Hi All- First off, the Platter is still around for those of you who used to use it; it still uses Hotline (yeah, I know, dead software...), and there are osX versions of HL you can download (I can send you a link if needed). The proper address for the platter is: platter.wombatstudios.com:6666 Old logins/passwords should still work, and I can always look up logins (and reset passwords) as needed. It's mostly just chat now, as I host the server out of my basement (and I don't want to give up my own bandwidth to HL), but chat can still be worth it. It's not EI centric - probably hasn't been for several years now - but it's reasonably friendly to all 3D apps and BS in general. However, we also started using Google Wave as an option to Hotline, with mixed results. Some have issues with it's performance and/or interface - and it's a far different beast than Hotline - but purely as a chat server, I think it has some promise (and also allows people to get in through firewalls generally). For access to the Google Wave chat, you need to get a Wave account: http://wave.google.com Once you have that, email me - or send me a message through Wave and I'll add you into the chat room: bearthw@googlewave.com Maybe it's not everyone's cup of tea, but it's an interesting test, and I think it's good to continue the community spirit, however we can. --Bear
