It did turned out quite well Ross. You used the Hubble backdrop image for the reflection? I wonder how a version with shadows would look... But in an environment like that with light coming from everywhere, would shadows be visible?

Socket - Landscape Generator
RichardJoly replied to MickaelBehn's topic in Features propositions / Ideas
Adding a little blur (1) and reducing the adaptive threshold (from 5 to 2) seem to give the best results. But alas it it not yet making a smooth mesh. Still great for rocky mountains... We'll get there. -
I checked Graphic Converter but I don't thing it does that. These might do the job: http://video-frame-capture.for-mac.com/ http://www.mp4converter.net/video-converter-mac.html

Very nice job Ash! 2 people, 1 month for the whole thing... I must applaud you both! A real beauty, congrats!

Nice model and texture. I always loved this Mforge look. Gotta get me that plug...

Mark, I can't remember if the original was a picture, I just know it was heavily retouched in Photoshop to repeat correctly...

HD frame rate for TV broadcast (in U.S.)
RichardJoly replied to interstellar's topic in EIAS General Forum
Joe, I read that 24.976 is a "Film looking" NTSC compatible frame rate. Is it the preferred format for broadcasting? It depends... I had to deal with different directors asking for different format in the same broadcasting house... Usually Broadcasters can give you a Producer Tech Sheet with the settings they prefer. Here is one for Discovery HD: http://dhd.discovery.com/guidelines/gallery/guidelines.pdf Some "interesting" reading: http://www.cnet.com/hdtv-resolution/ http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/High-definition_television -
I found the map for the chain link fence. Now with a new eye, I find it's a little too thick. You can simply make the wires longer between the knots and it will look better. Example movie: http://www.rdnmultimedia.com/eias/Fence_Project.mov Project with maps: http://www.rdnmultimedia.com/eias/Chain_link_fence.zip

Mark, the user base is recovering from a very eventful 2009... many shied away from all Forums so, we are now less people spread over 3 "official" Forums... EIAS3D in at full speed in developing the Web Site, the Wiki, this Forum and, of course, the application. A perceived slowness is unavailable but, believe me, lots of ideas are boiling and the Team is preparing everything for a very interesting 2010!

I don't think I can say you have nice balls Mark without it sounding a little strange :P So lets just say the image is nice... Is the fence a clip map? I made one several years ago that was pretty convincing (at a distance) I'll post it if I can dig it up...

Nice Diego! Funny little tool full of possibilities isn't it? Love the Matrix bullet scene effect in the last animation :D

THAT's the spirit Mark! Keep this dream in your heart for it is bound to blossom into something wonderful!

Lots of 3D packages like Houdini, XSI, Maya and Lightwave with PointOven do export MDD files but... ...so does Tafa, a 200$ Facial animation program (http://ta-animation.com/FA/index.htm) and Blender, (http://www.blender.org/) the FREE 3D program with a very nice toolset and Collada import... Imagine the possibilities...:)

Morph control for Face animation

By the way TAFA exports .mdd files... This means facial animation with TAFA and rendering in EIAS3D!!!!! :D -
Now check what's happening in this movie between 4 and 5 seconds... The other half of the chair is deforming by itself. What's happening here? You can even delete regions 6, 7 and 8 in the Project. Save all components with materials
RichardJoly replied to WHD's topic in Features propositions / Ideas
Exactly. The clearer and to the point your suggestion is, the easier for the developers to estimate the work involved and get the "Up for 9" stamp and, subsequently, attract more users votes to make it to the V9 UserPack. -

Bill, isn't it what Collect does? -
Mike, I think this was the original idea about EIAS Art Works Section, it says "Please post your art-work, lets discuss them" Finals is what you give to meet the deadline... Is there really such a thing as a "final" final... Feel free to post any WIPs you have in the EIAS Art Works section and keep in mind this Forum is in constant evolution and that your suggestion will be considered. http://www.eias3d.com/forums/forumdisplay.php?fid=12 If you have some Art you would like to share in the upcoming Gallery follow this link: http://www.eias3d.com/forums/showthread.php?tid=74 Thank you

Dongle Free Animator | Multicaustics
RichardJoly replied to Frankg's topic in Features propositions / Ideas
Wilson, Toolkit was my first version of EIAS. Learned a lot from Alex at DV Garage. I think Toolkit was a 2.0 version stripped of plugin support. You could open Toolkit projects with EIAS but not the contrary. Everything worked well up to the version (insert # here) where "Ubershapes" replaced "Standard Shapes" For a while it was working with a special version of "Standard Shapes" that Matt Hoffman graciously provided. With every new incarnation of the software it became increasingly complicated to open those old files up to the point it was often faster to redo them. If you really really need a Toolkit project, I suggest you open the original, replace all your Standard shapes with Fact files, save it and then go from Toolkit to EIAS 2.5, from 2.5 to 3 etc. This way, last december, I opened a 10 years old project (a book opening with flipping pages) in V8 where I could render but not save... Saving made Animator quit. It is rarely worth the trouble. I did the same animation in V8 in 2 hours, less time than it took to convert it... -
James, You are trying to open an old project containing this XP script into V8? Have you tried opening the project in an older version to copy the script? Why do I feel I don't get the problem at all? Why don't we all speak french for a year, that could prove to be fun or, at least, entertaining...

Did you really modeled all those little leaves in the background trees!!!?:P These looks like really fun jobs to do and you do them well. I think you should try with a little more light, the shadowed parts seems a bit too dark. I have been modeling with FormZ for 15 years and find ViaCad difficult to work with. You seem at ease with it... Nice job!

Medium/large scenes (one of optimization)
RichardJoly replied to Igors's topic in Features propositions / Ideas
Igors, you should get an UPto9 icon for this one... I thought the size of the largest map used in a project dictated the amount of memory required, not the sum of all maps. -
Christian, I hope somebody has a quick fix for I have seen this before and it's curable. I just don't remember how... That's no big help, sorry. Have you tried passing your fact file through Transporter?
-
Mostly FormZ with it's excellent Fac export, a bit of Silo and ViaCAD.
