  1. Very strange indeed... Looks like a mockup of a 3D site using old EITG press releases from 2007. Someone simply got hold of the name that wasn't used anymore. What could be the point in doing this? Registrant: Domains by Proxy, Inc. DomainsByProxy.com 15111 N. 2. 45 downloads and 3 comments... Kinda disappointing isn't...? Well, that how it goes... :-/ This is a really nice test Richard. The diamond model is outstanding, I understand you used real geometry. Now, if I may be so bold to ask, I would like to see the diamonds closer. A lot closer. Maybe bend the surface on which they fall a little in X and Z so they bunch more at the centre, get the camera closer at the end of the animation and reduce the surface reflection to emphasize the diamond itself and not its reflection... And while you are at it, maybe a test with more bling, exaggerated caustics and flares...? You know, dreamy diamonds... I will think of a dozen more things to do with your diamonds and get back to you...!:D
  3. Great work Michael! Sunny day at sea for a change. Maybe a bump map on the sails might help to create creases. These sails were often repaired at sea and without overdoing it, some patches showing different tints and textures could help? Love the water by the way...!
  4. Thanks Hal! I'm sure many users will be delighted with this excellent project! May I be so bold to ask you to make one zipped file with these instructions, your project and the model? That way when a user wants to use the project everything will be there without having to refer back to a forum post. Thanks
  5. Cool animation! But alas, there is something wrong... And it's my fault... My daughter-in-law told me all the inside faces of the cube are supposed to be black! I checked, she's right... I corrected my cube and edited the link in post #2 Projects - 3X3 and 4X4 cubes http://rdnmultimedia.com/eias/Rubik_cube.zip
  6. Yes it does, it's a very good idea. If you use the button "ADD REPLY" directly over the Quick Reply window at the bottom of the thread, you will get a reply page with lots of options. Add Attachment will be there...
  7. Thanks. I did a 4X4 cube because if you put a logo or a slogan on the faces, it gives 7 more squares per side to better hide the final image before it's revealed.
  8. Here is a little test I made with simple effectors. This is not the best way to go but it can be animated rather quickly. The trick is to start with the finished piece. Link all the cubes of the row you want to animate to the proper effector and render this section. Unlink everything then link the other row(s) you want to animate to the proper effector and render again. Keep going until you get the mix you want or when you run out of patience. I did 6 animations for my cube. Bring everything into AfterEffects or a similar program and time reverse the result. Voilà ! 14. That is excellent! "Femchec" is reassuring... I wouldn't want to see that thing coming towards me...

  18. Great work! This will be a nice addition to the Gallery, very representative of architectural presentation.

  20. Looks very good but difficult to judge without seeing it composed over a background plate. The reflection and transparency might kill the effect...

  22. My wife and I are 3D buffs... We simply adore the stereoscopic effect that gives us the impression of depth in movies or pictures. In every trip we make, we always take pictures and a couple of them are taken so we can turn them into anaglyphs. We rarely miss a 3D animated movie. Some «normal» movies are horrible in 3D. We ADORED Avatar. Lets say we saw it more than once... We tried 3D television and found it despicable. It's like watching a movie played in a fish tank... That is something we will never buy. I check some 3D videogames in a store and was impress with the effect. Still, I would not buy a 3D TV Set. I will always love 3D but not in every situation. That may change with holographic display... But not for now. Some members of my family simply cannot watch 3D movies without getting a terrible headhache. Check out what Oscar-winning film editor Walter Murch has to say about it: http://blogs.suntimes.com/ebert/2011/01/post_4.html

  24. You will hate me Steve but, to my untrained eye, the first one looks like melamine dishware and the second really has a metallic feel... I know what you mean by glossy plastic, I hope someone can steer you (and me) in the right direction. We'll know it's correct when we see it... unfortunately this is not helping a bit.:( Feel free to work like a slave and make dozens of test... I'll tell you when you get it right!:P
  25. Mark, lower the specular (a lot) on the model, it will get rid of the plastic look... I hope I have time to play with it this weekend.
