I have the same issue with music Vic as I am not a musician. My client will sometimes hire an After Effects co. to comp my work together and add music. I just try to use some new electronic/grime sounds that have some snap to them. Steven Houtzager

Wow that is so much better! The overall white model at the beginning is very cool. The music needs a bit more variety to break it up. What kind of render farm are you using to output that so quickly or is it the use of Photons that speeds it up? Steven Houtzager

Hey Victor, That is one of the best EI flythrus I have ever seen. You have taken GI to another level. The people look great. I only see that the order of the flythrus could be better. For example, it goes from the party room to the outdoors abruptly then to exiting the lobby. The first half flows well but the second half does not. Little too much time on the elevators as that is not too interesting. You might want to consider a different perspective angle for the last exterior shot, looking up the building. Most renderings would keep the vertical lines near vertical without perspective even though there is lots of perspective. Just how people like to think of it. Some programs call it lense shifting. Probably going to buy the 12 core macpro and was wondering if V9 will be able to use those 12 cores? Even better if it could use the virtual cores as well. Steven Houtzager

Selecting an object in a Rendering in Photoshop

What is happening Stoddard? That sounds like a good way to do it. It would be cool to see some of your experimental work as you push EI to new frontiers. SH -
Selecting an object in a Rendering in Photoshop
S. Houtzager replied to S. Houtzager's topic in EIAS General Forum
Cool. Is there a way to control the ID color in EI? That would simplify greatly the number of layers and make is easier to spot the different pieces. -
Wanted to select a part of a canister that I had already rendered today so I could tweak it in Photoshop. Well some "other" programs produce a solid color for each object so you can put that on top of your photoshop image and use it to select each piece separately. Easy enough in EI using a different luminance color for each object. I used a copy of my file so as not to muck up the original. Maybe someone has a faster way of doing this???? SH

I think one monitor is faster and becoming more common. That honeybee used an interesting layout.

Hey EIers, Was wondering how everyone is customizing their interface seeing that there are much larger monitors these days. I use a 27" iMac so I now lay out EI much differently. I am attaching a snap and would like to see how others are using the extra space! http://www.intuitionusa.com/1/ei_screen.png Because I have so many shaders I have broken them into 2 groups. Wave deformations might be able to do the trick. Not sure if it can do elliptical waves or not. Steve

Yes, I use OS 10.6.7. It will use a max of 4 cameras and not 8.
-
I have a quad core i7 iMac and EI8 works fine. Can use 4 cameras at a time. It is brisk.

Have done a couple of renderings with them and an animation and it is the only way that I know of, export and reimport. I saw a new video tutorial on Expressionist controlling Parametric Surfaces on the EI website.

Those GI training movies aren't available anymore. They were sold by Paralumino. They would still sell well and the GI info is still relevant.

Kind of cool how you made the spring with the deform tool. Shear and Bend together.

well ship it already!!!!

I have been collecting HDRIs lately and thought it would be useful if others post where they are finding hi resolution / hi quality images. I prefer to use the spherical ones as EI handles them well and you can view them easily. These are good: http://www.doschdesign.com/ http://www.hdri-studio.com/index.html http://www.sachform.de/index.php?option=com_content&view=article&id=16&Itemid=27〈=en Check out an HDRI test of mine: http://intuitionusa.com/2_hdri.html Steven Houtzager

Way of knowing if Renderama is set up correctly

I know exactly what you mean Richard. Good catch. -
Way of knowing if Renderama is set up correctly
S. Houtzager replied to S. Houtzager's topic in EIAS General Forum
Just found a solution to a problem that happens to me from time to time when rendering stills in Renderama. In the Rendering Options, you have to have the Nth frame button turned off and it has to be set to "current frame". When I had Nth frame on I could only render to one slave. Thanks Tomas for the help. http://www.intuitionusa.com/1/nthframe.png SH -
Has anyone figured out a way to tell if Rederama is set up correctly "besides" doing a test render. I will use the same settings for the slaves and sometimes renderama uses all my slaves and other times it just uses one. SH

Give the EI layers shader a try. You add it to the Layers tab of the Render palette. There is a video tutorial on the subject in the Rendering section of video tutorials. I haven't tried that yet. http://www.intuitionusa.com/1/shadows.png SH

To turn on/off large numbers of items you will need to have your project window organized so that you can use the option click on the on/off check mark (the first box in front of each item). This controls the object and everything below it in the project window. It sounds like you might just turn off the objects in front of the people to get your desired results. If you are doing a still, you might want to render a photoshop layered file so that you have some more control of items.
