    RealFlow test

That looks fantastic! Great work! Well done figuring out the worflow, Ian
  2. There really should be a 'cancel rendering' button that quits the slave camera and also deletes their .ccn files so you can start rendering again without having to do that manually. Ian
  3. Hi David, We've been ironing out some of these legacy inconsistencies over the last few versions and we will continue to do so as we improve these areas of the app. Thanks for pointing them out :) We also appreciate that improved material previews is an often requested feature and is firmly logged as a feature request. Ian
  4. Hi James, If you look in your Activity Viewer (utilities folder), you will probably see that Animator is running at close to 2gb of ram. When Animator goes over this limit, you will not get a warning, it will just crash. I only ever had one project that did this kind of thing, and I got around it by binning anything that wasn't absolutely essential, and where possible, splitting the project up into separate files (internal/external for example). Hope that helps, Ian
  5. If Rodeo supported springs, you could do this entirely in EI, however it doesn't, so you can either do it roughly in EIAS (following my tutorials, which would still look natural), or, if you need it doing scientifically, you'll need to get ahold of a Maya car rig (there are several free ones) and do it there. Let us know how you progress, Ian
  6. Hi David, The normals on that model are not smoothed. In your modelling program, set a normals angle of 40 degrees. Alternativly you can try this on importing the model into EIAS by checking the 'recalculate normals' box. Transporter can also recalculate normals (should be in your EIAS folder). Best, Ian
  7. Hi Bill, I'm afraid every app has that issue. For the last 2 years I've been doing ALL my blur in post-production using ReelSmart motion blur, or time blur in Nuke, once start doing it, you'll never go back :) Ian
  8. Theoretically, I can't see why not, I'll have a play tonight and post my results. Ian
  9. Hi Ash, Correct me if I'm wrong, but SimCloth IS soft body dynamics... What additional features are you looking for? Best, Ian
  10. :) Maybe a Sock-in, as in, "put a sock-in it" (means "be quiet") as my mother used to say :)
  11. Officially, they are sockets :) But technically, a socket is a plug-in ;) Ian
  12. No problem, let us know if you have any questions about EIAS 8! Best, Ian
  13. This technology is too immature to be used in production, it's fine for hobbyists. In the future I'm sure it will become more widely applicable, but for now, these are just interesting frontier developments showing the way things might go for certain scenes. Ian
  14. Hi Antknee, It's pretty easy, here's the set up (post simulation). Thin cloth: http://homepage.mac.com/cake_or_death/ThinClothH264.mov Thick cloth: http://homepage.mac.com/cake_or_death/ThickClothH264.mov Hope that helps, Ian
  15. You can do it with Noise Factory instead of the other reactive shader in that tutorial (it has a black and white reactive mode for the gradient)... As Paralumino has now closed, I can probably make those tutorials free, I'll contact Brian and ask... Ian
  16. 3. Make sure your project timing (render info window) is set to 'All Frames' not 'Current Frame'. Then Sim Cloth should simulate. :) Ian
  17. Hi Felix, Two fixes: 1. In ubershape, un-check 'auto name' so you can re-name the group. 2. Hold 'ctrl' and 'alt' while you double click on Sim Cloth.plm to open the interface directly. I keep forgetting to tell people this short-cut, but it's a great time saver. Best, Ian
  18. It's not quite as simple as it seems, rather a lot would have to change and it would probably break every IMG importer (After Effects, Photoshop, Quicktime, Graphic Converter etc.). Perhaps better to just switch the default to .png, which is now pretty standard for single layer output. Best, Ian
  19. You can say that again. It took Autodesk over 2 years of work to shift Maya to QT, but QT certainly is the future. We have a step by step modernisation plan, and we're working on it :) Ian
  20. Hi Diego, Yes, send us a project where this doesn't work for you, I'm working on a Nintendo ad at the moment, and I've got all the layers into AE CS3 from EIAS (via renderama) with no problems. Best, Ian
  21. We have similar issues with AE, but not just with RPF files, we get it with many file types, we sometimes have to reboot to get AE to reload files (often hitting 'reload' will crash AE if files have been replaced over a network). Bizarre, Ian
  22. Hi Mickael, Select a .img file, get info on it, change 'Open With:' to EIAS, and then click "Change All..." It's typical nowadays to render to .png or PSD, whatever is convenient for you though, Ian

    MDD fun test.

Yes, Tomas is right, you need to turn on Motion Blur for both objects, I got this wrong in the video tutorial. Sorry, Ian
  24. Hi Mark, That means that your IP is changing, it isn't to do with Rama, it's something in your network settings... Are you using a static IP in network preferences? Ian
