Would like to have the option of using the Apple default color picker because it has a useful tool for copying the color off anywhere on the screen. It is the magnify glass button. Still like EI's color picker too.

I have created an UberNurbs shape in EIM and the mesh looks really good. I have to split it in half with a boolean operation. I can do the boolean, however the new mesh is "really rough". EIM asks to convert the Ubernurbs during the boolean. I tried to export the UM as a fact and reimport but it will not take the boolean. How to create a smooth mesh?

I am creating an internal view of a stomach and want to make the lining look wet. I don't want super real wet, just wettish. Any ideas? Also, I want to create some small veins with a shader. Tried veiny but that is for aliens. Thanks.

Attaching master materials before export
S. Houtzager replied to GeordieJames's topic in Features propositions / Ideas
You will want to use an effector as the parent because you will have more control of the base of the scale. Then scale the effector and make sure that all the children have "inherit scale" checked. -
For Animated Booleans use the Tailor Tool from Kon....... spelling issue. It works great and is very simple. For moving / scaling keyframes use the offset editor tool which is under the animation menu. There is a video tutorial on the site.

I bet V9 camera will be awesome. I thought for sure someone else would smoke the time I posted. Why not see where camera is right now!

I usually take a modeling approach to this type of issue. I would model the label geometry as a separate piece. Also, reactive shaders can be controlled so that they only affect something that is a certain color below it.

I just beat up all of the benchmark times with my scrappy iMac. Check it out at http://www.silverbullet3d.com/main.html It was actually 4 cameras and not 8. Yea, cmon.

Very nice work. Especially like the dynamics work with the shreds. Using the black and white checkerboard to show spinning works well.

or open the .img in photoshop, alter a bit, and save.

Is there a trick so that you view .img files without opening them on a mac? For example, when selecting a texture map image you click on the button to add it and then want to preview as you are adding it.

When Rendering asking for QT format
S. Houtzager replied to S. Houtzager's topic in EIAS General Forum
Found the setting in the second tab of the render options. Just turned it off. -
Check out the Proxy pluggin. There is a tut on this page http://www.eias3d.com/category/video-tutorials/plug-ins/. It used to be sold on the old web site, not sure where it can be purchased now.
-
A third party could develop it. I have seen all kind of format converters. Just got to find the right people.

Hey I run into this every now and then when working with other people's files so I want to ferret this out. When I press the render button "thru the render tab" a window will pop up and say: The Quicktime Object VR option muse the Quicktime format. Please select the QT file format. I will select the QT format as the render to option and it still will not render. Hmm, it will render from the camera window fine. This is an issue when trying to render to multiple cameras. As a test, download the AlienFish Speed test and use the V8 file.

On the tutorial page: http://www.eias3d.com/tutorials/ I wanted to look at the photon mapping file, but I could not decompress it.

Very nice EI animations!! Good to see what can be done with the program.

Great new tutorial videos on the new site. Good job. So is EI3d going to sell pluggins as EITG did? Did not see any on the site. I like the newest logo btw Steve Houtzager

Nice trick! Like to know how it was done.

I got them from a friend.

Hey EIers I need a favor, I have 2 max files that need to be converted into "obj". http://www.intuitionusa.com/1/car1.zip http://www.intuitionusa.com/1/car2.zip They are nice models by the way of 2 Mercedes. Thanks. Steven Houtzager

Adaptive or Oversample in animations?
S. Houtzager replied to interstellar's topic in EIAS General Forum
Hey Joe, I only use the Adaptive for stills. The oversample default settings work very well most of the time. When I get some sizzle of high contrast items, I start bumping up the settings. The AA Settings and the Sampling Setting need to be adjusted as a set. In other words, If you move up one on the AA Setting you need to move up one on the Sampling Setting. Uping the Oversample settings really ups the render time though so I have to experiment to see if it is better to try another solution. Another alternative is to lessen the contrast of the objects or try to clean up the model. You can also adjust the sampling of each object individually. Also, some motion blur can get rid of some sizzle as well. Hopes this helps! Steven Houtzager
