Hi Michael ,Thanks for the info. I have all the Konkeptoine plugins except the last 3 David came out with that was about 30 which only 15 have been made as updated . I don't Know anything about CG Society except the name cause I almost have never gone there. I didn't think about that problem with Jeremy's approval. I don't mean bring their challenges here I mean make our own by our members. Thanks Mark

Hi we have had a bunch of new people join the forum last few days so Hi Glad to see you here, don't be shy about posting your art works your Questions . Mark

Hi Michael Really Great . I have never see theses.WE need to Bring the challenge idea over here now it seems, so we can all learn from each other. What were the details of this challenge? Because you say it was a lighting Challenge but your material settings look different. Was a model provided by someone in the challenge. Any way to share the project fie so we could pick it apart? Thanks Mark

Hi ALEX saw your other videos of the car in the city , Great stuff Nice camera work. ALEX, could you post pictures of what your maps look like? what the simple model looks like, and picture of where cameras to project maps are placed. How did you get the lights to pop on so good is that just good light balance and shape of the spot lights. They just go from off to on normally? Thanks for any info you can share. I have not done any projection maps yet. Thanks Mark

HI I kind of doubt anyone would have thought that would happen , so they probably did not. Mark

HI This one covers a expanding cube animation using a null to scale in 3D space while rotating. Also covers the hidden shapes of the uber shape plugin. Enjoy Mark http://web.me.com/markjohnston99me/markseiasmovies/EASY_BASIC_EI_PART_8.html

HI just was looking at the info about ZB4 it has some animation features and MDD export and single click export of all maps. Any way I was waiting to down load my update till the rush is over. So I went to look at the videos they have of the new features, and saw this info. Now I return to watch those videos. Mark

Hi This one takes a break from materials and covers animating a logo using the concept of nulls as a mover, and covers making 3D text it's 53 min long 243mb I think it said . For those who might fine it useful. Enjoy Mark http://web.me.com/markjohnston99me/markseiasmovies/EASY_BASIC_EI_PART_7.html

Team up with Newercenter Silo modeler again?
Mark Johnston replied to joseph56's topic in Features propositions / Ideas
Hi Tomas , Joseph , Felix I saw a post on there forum that was dated about 2 years ago where one of the developers said that silo was thought up as a minimal modeler to only have the tools people use most and he said something like silo is largely done though some development would still go on. But it was mostly done as far as they were concerned. AS far as Tesla goes at one time at EITECH they said the framework they want to build the modeler on was being priced to high for them to feel they could do it , but they where hopeful the situation would change so development was going on . I wonder on all the forums why more people don't get in and post because people all the time say making it in any thing is about who you know. Making those connections where others know who you are and you know them and maybe jobs can come your way or you know who to hire or get help from when you need help. Most of the people only seem to join the forum to find out when the next version of the software is coming out or bitch about wanting this feature or that feature or their going to leave and go to some other program . Yet you go on that other companies forum and the people over there are saying those same kind of things. If you don't get this i will leave this is all nonsense , there is no mention of the cost or time and effort to create those new things people want I just want them now!!!! Like not having that feature totally controls their abilities to create things . Photoshop had the things most people use all the time years ago but people still think up new things to add to it but the core things people use have long been there. Since the amount of action taking place on the forum effects peoples opinion of the long time chances of a company staying profitable every effort should be made to increase the amount of users Participating , Which is the reason I started my lessons you need to make it clear this is easy software to use and because of that you can start getting things done while having fun doing it . The more any company can do to make it easier to learn their software and easier do get things done with their software the more users they will get just by word of mouth, that hey ,this is the software that lets you get things done. So I think of 2 things all the Time ease of use which is partly design of the software which is actually what I have always loved about EIAS that it has a clear design where things make great sense and are easy to use . Now the only thing I feel is wrong in the EI UNIVERSE is the idea that Content IS KING you hear this in every other business but the only place that seems to embrace this idea in the 3D world is the Daz Poser people. So I think some effort should be made to create models that are already in fact format and all textured so people can build things faster and get things done. I have many different music software products that come with samples of every sound , every instrument possible and there all low priced even though there's so much that comes with them. But yet this seems like a double edge sword because it costs money to hire some modelers texture artists prop and set designers and create what the old studio way of doing things. We have a cast , we have a backlot, we all the sets and props, we have LITTLE HOLLYWOOD the place to get things done . The double edge of course is it takes an effort to create this world and it's an idea that any company doing 3D could do. Also so like with the music software the companies are in danger of driving each other out of business by offering so much for so little. This is where you could maybe get the members of the our users to like in the idea of open software you set up a effort by the users to create LITTE HOLLYWOOD in an organized way created the most useful models first and over a few years growing and growing so in a future time there stands EIAS3d's LITTLE HOLLYWOOD at the top of the 3D world. So ,thats my meglomanic rant which i guess was a little off subject, but a little related. I was using silo but have switched to modo and bought a lot of the Andy Brown lessons just regular obj exports and opens the best transfer to EI i have seen didn't have to use Obj 2 Fact with it . Mark Trying to load my new lesson apple web service keeps saying there's an error on their end try again later. For about 16 hours now. SO GET IN AND POST PEOPLE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! -
HI this ones shorter and clears up what I was confused about at the end of part 5 .So it's about grim maps mostly. Mark http://web.me.com/markjohnston99me/markseiasmovies/EASY_BASIC_EI_PART_6.html

HI WOW ALEX GREAT JOB ADDING THE SOUND IT'S REALLY GOOD and thanks for sharing more info . Mark

Hi Tomas Thanks you saved me some time. I didn't realize someone could save them and repost them cause they where being streamed not downloaded. I also didn't know all these others were being done by other users, I only thought Ian's videos were here. Thanks Mark Oh sorry I went back and saw it was members list not videos

HI I was having a problem at the end of this video getting a grim map to layer on a picture and just watching it I saw the eyeball wasn't clicked and when i thought I was seeing a little grim showing it was really a little reflection. So that was a good little mistake. Mark

HI I made a mistake making this one to big it's 314 mb 77 min. long. I couldn't see how to split it up in screenflow.I will make them shorter from now on. http://web.me.com/markjohnston99me/markseiasmovies/EASY_BASIC_EI_PART_3,4_,5.html Mark

HI Tomas Thats right just like materials They can be Dragged and drop but instead of on to the material ball you drag them to the maps lists area. I hope to cover all the shaders and plugins, but will see how it goes. I have been learning I don't have as firm a grip on some things as I thought , so like you said before this is a good way to make yourself learn more. Mark
-
HI I wonder if anyone knows why the shader is not showing up in the texture window its showing as the diffuse color in the preview. This is in version 8 intel Mac and on my old computer G5 running 6.5 the shader shows up in preview. Also when I put 3Dbricks in my old computer it renders on all sides of a cube but on the intel mac it's only on one side like the 2 D version it streaks on the sides. ANY help Thanks Mark
-
HI Yeah it's great Alonzo Mark

Hi Guys Thanks for making good comments, because it will feel good to be able to look back and feel I did help others get there quicker with less trouble. Today I started on part 3 but found I was having a lot of problems so I had to re teach myself cause I was doing a lot of ( WHATS GOING ON HERE THIS ISN'T RIGHT) any way I finally got back to knowing what was wrong and will be able to do part 3 tomarrow. I also will take a look at something I want to remind myself of that I learned from the VTC EIAS7 Training disk I have. Mark

Hi Michael Did you get it to play, the files are big 1 one was 111 mb the second is 147 mb so Alex could be right. This is my first time doing this , they load super quick on my cable connection. One of the reasons I want to do this is both my brothers are just going to be learning the program and I thought I could help get them going faster . But one of my brothers is still on dial up so I plan to knock this out and then send him a copy in the mail. I also feel it would be helpful for new users or maybe for people considering buying the program. If you took a look , what do you think ? Will it be helpful I hope so. From your work I would think you probably know a a lot more then me. Mark

HI Part 2 is done. http://web.me.com/markjohnston99me/markseiasmovies/EASY_BASIC_EI_PART_2.html Mark
-
HI Tomas as I add more, I'll do that, and your right trying to make a tutorial makes you have to focus and brush up on things and trying to develop more of your own skills. What I will do will be Quick and off the top of my head so excuse any mistakes , if they aren't to bad, because I don't want to be to much into every detail. I'm going to start on Part 2 now, so it might be up later today Mark
