Hi FelixCat I just tried the videos . They all played for me, so I don't much about why this was my frist try at this. The movies came out all small and I later thought maybe all I had to do was pull the handles to make them bigger so maybe I can to that and update . I made this because so many people link you to their page , I thought , I should get with it , and use the account I got when I got my computer. I plan on putting Guitar Drums Keyboard and EIAS lessons on there in future but it will take a little time to ramp up.I just asked my brother to go and I'll ask him if videos played for him. My brother made balls jokes to and I said I quess I should have said shperes. HEY TOMAS I know you guys are going to get things moving and create that energy but I still want to see more people get out of there shells and post something. and HI Richard was the image used for repeating the fence section a photoshop painted creation or its an extracted section of a picture of a real fence . Your project shows a thing I've come to realize lately . I have been trying to make big sences that go off into the distance, but have just told someone the other day that I need to appraoch things differently by using backdrops . One of my friends always use to comment, about the old show Bonaza, that you could tell in alot of sences they were just standing in front of a picture. Yeah create the illusion of big sence not create big sence. Mark

Neon & Chrome CG Society Lighting Challenge
Mark Johnston replied to Buggsy's topic in EIAS Artworks
Hi Looks Great Buggsy good to have you here ! Mark -
Hi Richard the fence is from that fact model disk from 3dNY in the uber bundle. I had that disk for years but hardly looked through it cause some of the first models I tried to open from it didn't open right and also I was disappointed at the time I got it that you had to do the materials and textures yourself , if you wanted them to look good. But being a person who has not really worked enough on my modeling skills , I looked in it for things to throw in sences with out alot of work . I made a fly over a suburb sence by using the ranch house model repeated and textured differently to make a 50 house area and then had the Xwing fighter chasing the darth vader ship across with models from that disk. I downloaded Blender2.49 last week after your post in the mdd thread . I had not checked it out for years and was surprized how it has grown . I think it has compliacted key commands, different key selects in different windows . I'll get use to it if I work with it enough though. Thanks for taking time to make a remark I wish more of our users would post you can't create a feeling of things happening if theres nothing going on. So people on this forum need to become more active I see non members visiting the forum every time I come on here, and what are they seeing is a bored apathic user base . Look at Zbrush annouced a 100,000 members this summer look at the amount of posts of people showing their work, it is a fact there is a connection between these 2 things . Get OUT OF YOUR SHELLS PEOPLE . new features to software are not only thing that makes people use a certain program , its part the community, WE NEED YOU. Thanks Mark

HI Tomas, when I can I'll get to this , I have my time being absorbed by blender right now because Richard listed it as one way to get mdd files. so i'm trying to learn it now . What a strange set of key commands compared to EIAS. I watched the video about c4d great video and great development for users who have c4d (i don't) but yeah wow !

Hi Monday yeah I was running 12 slaves writing to 3 internal hardrives 4 slaves on each drive I left my main drive free and had renderama stich to an external drive and as long as sence was simple it ran fine. Then I tried putting some large poly bamboo in sence multi instances and things came to a froze computer. I'm just starting to do work each day an trying to build my skills and I only learn by trying things and getting the help I'm getting here so, thanks for any help, suggestions are welcome. Thanks Mark Hi again guys Tomas whats Btw stand for I've see this in several posts don't know what it is.

Hi Monday thanks for the info I have the 12gigs in one MAC PRO 8 core and i was doing simple animations with only 900 mb in each camera and was running 12 nodes and every thing was fine, but as soon as I tried more poly intensive sence all my slaves started quiting and my computer even totally froze . So now I know I have to use resources better or get more memory. Mark

HI Tomas I already have Syntheyes but all I,ve ever done with it is the tutorials that came with it . I have and xl1 and gl1 that I can use but there only dv so Quality wouldn't be that good for geen screen work . I Quess this would not matter with the tracking of the spheres. I have my garage set-up as green screen room but at time I set it up I didn't know any thing about setting up green screen for macth moving so I need to rebuild it right way. I learned how from the DVD set Special Effects for Directors from hollywood camerawork.us NOW I need to look at syntheyes tutorials again to see if there was good instructions on how to do this , if not could you explain further how you go about this. Thanks Mark
-
Thanks Tomas that will be totally cool to see more of your work explained. Mark and come on Guys I know some of you do great stuff and could revel some of your chops to the reast of us.

Hi I like the peeps . I like knowing you had to render in groups it helps to get Idea how big sence can be made just in EIAS. I have 12gigs of memory and I,m just getting idea I need more memory to do sences of the size I tried . How much memory did you have. I looked at some of your other videos , You keep very busy, and have big selection of your work . ALL appear to be great stuff. Mark

Hi Tomas would you still use the mechanical sensors if you did this today or would you use the small dots type way people do faces now. What kind of setup was that, custom setup? Is it super costly to get time in motion capture studio.Last Question more about O Rappa. Thanks Mark

HI Richard I have been a fan of EIAS since almost the start of the CG industry . I use to read all the computer mags when the home computers frist came out , and use to know most of the names of the people who were creating the programs . I would read about how Tron was done and Last Starfighter and so on through the years. When I read about people like John Knoll I use to think he must be about 5 years older then me , when I found out he was about 5 years younger then me, I was blown way . I noticed you said you started with the DVGarage Toolkit thats when I started too. I went to a few of the DVGarage meetings one in Oakland and the one that was in SF where John Knoll , Eric Chauvin and many other were speakers. They had a hang out and meet the guy"s after they spoke , but I was suppose to be at work at midnight so I left and went to work missing the chance to meet them. I was also aliitle afraid if I met them, they might have said show me some of your stuff and I didn't have anything to show . I still just mostly do test renders and toss them so I have no demo reel . I plan on trying to do new animation everyday to build all my ablities as fast as possible and to make a demo reel so I wouldn't be in that situation again. AS I was riding BART home that night I thouht how stupid I was for not staying and trying to make those connections that can change things. So Yeah this dream is a dream that will never die as long as I can put one foot in front of the other. Thanks for being one of those who has been answering my questions lately Richard Mark

HI IGORS Thanks Mark

Hi I Have downloaded Blender and have spend about 6 hours on learning the interface so far , need to spend a lot more time with it . Blender sure has grown since last time I looked at it about ten years ago. So far I haven't noticed anything about the MDD format yet , and as I have no experience with this I have a few Questions about how this works. Is MDD just a export format that turns any animation into Mdd , or is it a certain way you have to make your animation like how when making animation with morphs you have to make base model and morph target models . Thanks Mark

Hi Tomas,, it really sounds like EIAS is in good hands . I have been telling people . I would be able to make as good looking stuff as they see in major motion pictures as soon as I became better at using EIAS for years . I think of EIAS as a powerful imagination machine , where if you can image it, you can make it happen, and have long thought EIAS does'nt get the respect it deserves in the industry. Yeah i'm trying to work on it every day now and at some point I know I'm going to totally blow some of the non belivers away. You know, the told you so moment. I also like your a mac user, made with a mac. I was the only one at work who belived in apple .THIS IS MY PASSION NOW !!!! MY 86 YEAR OLD MOM SAYS MARK, YOU TALK SO MUCH ABOUT HOW GREAT THAT PROGRAM IS YOU SHOULD BE A SALESMAN FOR THEM . but of course my goals are to make great music videos , Tv shows and maybe even a movie someday . I THINK EIAS IS THE ROAD TO THE FUTURE.!!! Mark

HI Thanks Guys , for thinking it could be a interesting idea . I was almost afraid to see if the suggestion would just be ignored , or not taken in the right way . Like who this guy who thinks he's going to show us how to market our product. I'm just a hobby user, but this summer when i got a 8 processor mac I finally felt the rendering speed increase gave me a big boost in desire to really get to work instead of just noodling around. I had some ideas that I didn't want to see disappear in to the bottom of along line of threads where no one really consider them. Tomas , After looking at the link you gave me to your web page. I really liked all the stuff and I felt , man these are just the kind of guys I wish I had could hang with. Intently in to their art but still fun. I play guitar, drums and keyboards and the jam in the studio was fun to see. I read your interview and was pleasantly surprised to see how much in common our background was as far as i too had all but the last 2 konkeptoine plug'ins all the Northern lights plugin's and was almost going to by the other 3000.oo dollars of plugins that where on the market but decided , I'd hold it there for now. I to had all the interests in the effects people you mentioned and feel the same gratefulness that you expressed to all the others who have helped you. Differences is I spent 34 years stocking shelfs in a grocery store and I'am now retired and can finally do the kind of stuff that I like all day and at my own pace , no deadlines for me. I was born in the decade of Forbidden Planet , War of Worlds, ect. learned to play guitar ( practicing 7 hours a day) at 13 years old when the Beatles came out . I love this program Man !

Hi Tomas Yeah baby !!! Put this more out in the light of day . Instead of buried in some forum thread where people will just stumble on it. Thanks for sharing Guys.
