  1. Hi all, I found an old project I've made. It was used in an educational video for the company. Should be more or less photorealistic. The movement is not the discussion, it was determined by the movie itself. Would you name it now, 10 years later, photorealistic enough for a video? regards Frankg [attachment=461]

  3. Better material preview and handling. Maybe it's just me. My models are mostly done in solid thinking and converted via STEP in Shark FX to fact. When I assign a shader (wood for example) I could not see in the materials window where the structure is. It a try and error way which would be much more comfortable if I could see direction and size of the shader directly on the model. By the way some sort of the old steamroller-plugin or a body paint similar solution for materials placing would be really luxurious :) regards Frankg

  5. Hi, though every work can be done now I found a storage behavior in the UI. Windows do not follow the cursor if you rearrange them, but jump to the new cursor-position when you release the mouse. Affects all windows in EIAS (project, perspective view etc.) as far as I saw. regards Frankg

À propos Animator and 3D Text: Did anyone ever got a 3D-Text out of Animator which was written in a font different from the original Mac-fonts of 1984 :) I know it is a complicated task even for high-end modelers, but for visualization purposes only it would be enough to have a quick and dirty solution like C4D has.   10. I tried it again after updating Lion to 10.7.2. I have a 2.8 Ghz i7 MacBook Pro with 8 GB RAM. I made a simple project: only one cube in the scene, adding the rodeo plugin takes some time (several seconds) linking the plugin to the group takes again several seconds. Opening the group info window and hitting the plugin-button shows the beach ball for some seconds, but nothing happens. No dialog opens. Same with power particles pro. The other plugins seem to work, but I did not test each of them. I have an external disk with SnowLeopard. If I start my Mac from it everything works fine. I hope there is a solution or an EIAS 9 upgrade in the near future. Best regards Frankg
  11. Thank you tomas. Meanwhile I did some tests: Same behavior in 32 bit mode and with another user account. I re-installed EIAS 8, but could not re-install Rodeo, because it's on my EIAS 7 CD which could not be read anymore. regards Frankg

  14. Hi Tomas, moving groups attached to the plugin and the preview is very slow. A click on the plugin button in the group info shows the turning beach ball, but nothing happens. It takes a while and after that you can work on. regards Frankg
  15. Hmm… I had to upgrade to Lion on my MacBook Pro Intel i7. Seems EIAS 8 and Lion don't like each other. Every project with Rodeo or PowerParticles Pro won't open the plugin. Working in the project is slower as usually. Renders work fine. Will be a solution for that? regards Frankg
  16. Hi all, does this combination work? I'm trying to move from SnowLeopard to Lion. Animator works fine, but I can't use PowerParticles Pro. I'm not shure if I made a mistake. By the way: does anybody have a replacement for the hotline client? Seems I need a partition with Snow Leopard for a while:) regards Frankg
  17. I switched to ViaCAD and performed the upgrade to SharkFX as it was in promotion. The upgrade was less than 500$, but can't remember how much. I did the upgrade mainly because I needed some of the construction features of Shark. I can assure you ViaCAD is ways better than EIM ever was, although I loved EIM very much. The only thing: ViaCAD is a little cumbersome to work with. On the other hand you get some high-end features and a reliable production-ready output even for rapid-prototyping for only 49 $! I use it as an quality equal addition to my 5.000 $ professional Modeling Software. Shark/ViaCAD handles some details better than my ProApp - some are better in the ProAPP. They are fully compatible via STEP-format. So you can export, edit, re-import and edit again. I never had stability issues with ViaCAD. Best regards Frank

  20. Thank you all. Actually it seems that the simple wave shader will do the trick I need. Some things can be so obviously simple, you can't imagine:) I'll post the final result, since it is finished. Regards Frank
  21. Hi all, I want to visualize oscillations and interferences with EIAS. They should show as blended lines. Do you have any idea how to realize that? Writing a new shader for example:) They must not be real 3D. It works fine for me if they are a texture on a plane for example. See attachment. Best regards Frank

  24. Hi Richard, unfortunately I have no idea if obj2fact could import multiple files at once, because I don't have it. It would be nice if someone could test it. My idea was do do a little AppleScipt for transporter, but sadly transporter is not scriptable. Perhaps EIAS9's new import-system has a magic button „import folder" :) Regards Frank
