  1. Tom, I have attempted to load a recently downloaded copy of EIAS v9.1 to a Mac Mini (late 2014) running MacOS 10.14.6 Mojave with dongle, dongle software installed and my most recent unlock code. After clicking the Animator.app I get to the EIAS v9.1 startup screen and see the warning: Cannot allocate needed 3D Icon "lconBody_Camera" from El Resource folder. (There is a file named lconBody_Camera in the EI Resources folder within the the EIAS 9.1 folder.) Clicking OK brings: Assertion failed on line 24 of file Dbg_lnitCounter.cpp: Failed to call Dbg_lnitCounter::ShouldCleanUp() enough times to balance Dbg_lnitCounter::Shouldlnit(). The Abort option aborts and the Debugger option leads to a crash. I have screen shots of the steps and a text file of the crash report if needed. I would appreciate your input. Michael Morris Mac Mini (late 2014) model: MGEM2LL/A 1.4 GHz Dual-Core Intel Core i5 4 GB 1600 MHz DDR3 Intel HD Graphics 5000 1536 MB 500GB HDD (When get things working I will find a more capable Mac that I can dedicate to Mojave and EIAS v9.1)
  2. I was afraid of that, but my hopes rose when I considered Camera_64. I may just setup a dedicated Mojave Mac for now. Thank you. I hope things are going well with you. I look forward to the next EIAS3D.
  3. I’ve been away for a while. Trying to install EIAS3D 9.1 with dongle on iMac i9 with Big Sur. Installation not going well. Is there something I should know?
  4. I have been pleased with Affinity Photo software. But it does not open EIAS3D .img files as Photoshop with the EIFormat.plugin does. Affinity Photo does appear to be addressing the PS Plugins folder where EIFormat.plugin resides, but no success opening .img files. I still render to .img for stills and videos, but it is possible to render directly to other formats. Is .img relevant anymore?
  5. iMac, Mac Pro, Renderama Last Thursday I realized that there weren’t enough hours in the day to complete my current render intensive project on schedule. My iMac 3.5 GHz Intel Core i7 (4 core) is very capable, but not up to the job at hand. I ordered a Mac Pro 3.5GHz Xeon 6-core from the Apple Store. It arrived Monday evening. Tuesday morning I un-boxed, fired-up the Mac Pro. I connected the Mac Pro to the iMac via a single Thunderbolt cable. explained here: http://www.macworld.com/article/2142073/connecting-two-macs-using-thunderbolt.html I set up file sharing and using a spare hdmi TV monitor I copied the EIAS folder to the Mac Pro and set up a Rederama slave. Networked, slaved in three hours I was rendering on all ten cores. Would have been one hour were it not for overlooking a detail in the Renderama setup. 24 hours of fast flawless rendering. More than twice as fast as the iMac alone. This morning I disconnected the temporary TV monitor that I had used for setup and set the Mac Pro screen to share on the iMac. Now my workspace contains just: 27” iMac, Mac Pro, (all SSD onboard and off), keyboard & mouse, support storage via a Thunderbolt LaCie 2big (two 4TB drives). Simple system, lots’o power. My project is back on schedule. Michael iMac screenshot showing Mac Pro, all ten cores at work.
  6. Thomo, You may already know this, but I have only just recently taken advantage of it. I have been dragging folders that I am using in a project into the favorites column on the left side of the file search dialog box. I keep a materials folder for the current project there and materials are always close. In the past I reserved favorites as semi-permanent and put only very special folders there for universal access. In fact I didn’t use it at all. But now I drop in folders relevant to the project I am working on, remove them when I move to something else. I would love to see the feature you have requested, but in the meantime I’m using favorites. Michael
  7. I have been doing a bunch of renders for the most part successfully, but occasionally Camera has been stopping with the dialog: Camera Error: Error creating semaphore (28) Host26SO7 Sound familiar? Where should I start looking to fix? Also, traffic here seems a bit thin. Is CGSociety now the more relevant forum?
  8. Now in addition to not being able to find EIM, I can’t find Transporter. My EIAS discs are gone. I believe that Transporter used to be on the download page, but now, apparently, not. In any case I don’t remember Transporter being able to convert EIM files.
  9. Does Electric Image Modeler work in the current Mac system? If yes, where can I get a copy of EIM? (got dongle) Is there a utility for converting old EIM files to SAT or the like?
  10. Tom, I've been away from EIAS for a while. Can't get QT to read IMG files. Followed your lead (above) but all I could find at Telegraph was a Photoshop plugin. Would appreaciate direction. Michael Morris Sping 2011 iMac, OSX 10.8.2, EIAS 8.0.0, QT player 7.6.6 www.sphaera.us/illustration
  11. That works. Good to have EIAS up and running again. Thanks, Tom. Sorry for the delay in responding. Stuff happens. New web address. Farewell .me. Michael Morris www.sphaera.us/illustration www.sphaera.us/video
  12. Tried to open EIAS3D for the first time in a year. (I've been away from 3D illustration for awhile doing video, my other calling.) Got dialog box saying: 'Animator cannot be opened because of a problem. Check with the developer to make sure Animator works with this version of Mac OS X. You may need to reinstall the application. Be sure to install any available updates for the application and Mac OS X. Click Report to see more detailed information and send a report to Apple.' Replaced Animator and Camera in my EIAS 8 folder with the EIAS 8.0 Mac OSX Lion Patch from http://www.eias3d.com/downloads/ —same result. (Pondered the pre-Lion 2009 creation and modified dates on the patch. Great foresight.) Installed the copy protection widgets to freshen my dongle. http://www.safenet-inc.com/uploadedImages/SSD752(1).zip http://www.safenet-inc.com/uploadedImages/Sentinel%20Protection%20Installer%207.4.1%20on%20Mac%20OS%20X.zip http://www.safenet-inc.com/uploadedImages/SKPI131.zip http://www2.safenet-inc.com/support/files/Eve32403.zip (I appreciate the convenient, easy to find location. And only 4 installers.) But still the same dialog box: 'Animator cannot be opened because of a problem…' I would appreciate any thoughts on how to get EIAS3D up and running. Thank you. 13. I am looking for a 3d text model generator. I"m a little out of touch, directing commercial videos and haven't done any 3d in a while, so pardon my ignorance. 3d text. Silo doen't do it. I think Modeler is a bit dated. I don't think my Concepts Unlimited works any more. Is there a modeler that does 3d text for animating in EIAS that is easy to use and does not require a lifetime to conquere?
