3D Toolkit projects were never compatible with EIAS I'm afraid.
Though you could export everything out as Facts...

Hi Igors,
I also totally agree, I had no idea this was possible, though I did know that Animator uses a lot of RAM (and will crash when it loads a project requiring more then 2GB of RAM - with no warning).
An excellent idea Igors,

1. allow user to make the deformation list box bigger (like texture map box)
2. ability to (reorder) deformation region up to the top position
3. single button that turns off and on all deformations for an object
4. highlight entire animation line (key frames) when object is selected (see after effects)
5. ability to select animation channel of an object to highlight its key frames
6. raytrace shadow radius should be a ratio of the distance to the reference. If I animate the position of the light, the softness of shadow would remain consistent.
7. fog should be related to camera position (as it is now) but have the distance relate to camera reference position. as the camera is animated the fog distance automatically animates based on the camera reference.
8. global light adjust. In the render menu, a factor to adjust all light intensities in the scene.
9. ability to adjust the opacity of background image in camera window. we can adjust the opacity in the map window which is seen when rendered but not in the preview.
10. auto save
12. automatically search for missing files, have EIAS copy and paste the name of the missing file into the search field of the import dialog.
13. in the project window, select a model and have the option to reveal file in the finder.

Hi everyone,
User uploads via a web browser have been enabled:
http://electrichideout.no-ip.org:8080
An FTP client can also be used via:
ftp://electrichideout.no-ip.org/
For both, the login details are:
Username: UserFTP
Password: EIAS
This gives access directly to the Files/FTPUpload folder.
We look forward to seeing your work!
The EIAS3D Team.

Are you rendering in strips?

Indeed, in fact, various other 3D packages are adding dongles, not removing them.
Though, of course, a good solid demo/ learning edition is certainly on the cards,

1. Nice idea
2. Sketchup import via Obj or 3DS is pretty good, but obviously direct importers are always better ;)
3. We have some ideas here ;)
4. We'd like to see this too
5. Yes this is a very tricky area, but we need to discuss details
6. I think there is a mapping mode to compensate for this, I will check
7. We have some ideas here
8. I'm not sure I understand this..
Thanks for your ideas :)

Unfortunately it has already been tried.
What do you need EXR2Mesh to do additionally? We would like to improve it :)

Oh & don't laugh but I got a license for Groboto last week the v3 beta is awesome!!
Groboto rules! :)

I've used Obj2Fac for this in the past, just make sure (separate by material, use .mtl file).
If there is only 1 UV map involved per group, then Polytrans should be able to do this. In fact, if there is only one UV map per group, Animator should do this with a standard 3DS import (uncheck all the boxes!).
Hope that helps,

Hello all,
As you may know, we dedicate a portion of our development time to features voted for democratically by our users. This section of the development schedule is known as the 'User-pack'.
Features to be included for voting need to be vetted by the EIAS team to make sure they are in the boundaries of what is possible (effectively, this means a maximum of a few days programming time per feature).
We will be watching the feature suggestion forum for ideas that fit into the category, and as we spot the ideas that are suitable, we will stamp them with the attached logo.
In addition, we already have some features in mind for the next UP list and will make them public when the moment is right.
Thanks,
The EIAS3D Team.

Hmmm, perhaps this feature is Mac only, I'll ask...

Could you upload an example of such a file?
Cheers,

Hi David,
I can confirm that EITG is developing actively developing a modeller, you can ask about that on the EITG forums ;).
I model in Maya (CAD accuracy isn't for me) but I get the models to EI via .obj or FBX, I have no problems with file import (I just use file > open for both formats). I regularly export paint FX to EI from Maya too.
I used FormZ 6.6 a little, it's a great, solid modeller, though it never clicked with me (too exact!) :)
Sketchup is great for grabbing models from the 3D warehouse, exporting them to a better modeller, and then adding details to said models yourself, it can be good if you don't have time to start from scratch. But Sketchup really is for fairly basic shapes.
Hope that helps,
Ian

OpenGL in Animator is pretty basic, but I fear this would actually be more work then an IPR...
-
Agreed! I am a fan of doing good :)
Ian

Heh heh, I like!
Some photon errors there though? In the corners of the wall...
I wonder what is causing that...

"All readable formats."
That's a fair request, I'd also like to add that I love that sketch ;)
-
I can reproduce that here. We shall log it (as soon as we've finished the bug tracking system ;)
Thanks for reporting it!

Hi Bill,
I think the plan is to have another user-pack for EIAS9, and I'd vote for this one!
Ian

FBX is still the standard interchange format for the big apps. Collada is also quite powerful of course.
FBX is something we'd also like to see improved.

Great work, love the curves, hyper-reflections. Love the debate you started on you-tube about replicating star-ships, only Star Trek can do that.
Congrats,

I can see problems with placement here, wouldn't it be hard to place the text precisely where you want it?

Hi James,
If I remember correctly, QTVRs never worked via Rama... I could be wrong though.
Best,
Ian
