Thomo Posted March 8, 2013 Report Posted March 8, 2013 How do I move an area light without zooming in and out to grab the middle. I want to move it in one go, no changes. Is there a hotkey or something so I don't have to zoom in and out. Otherwise I get the head or the tail individually. Alos I have tried selecting a whole bunch of lights, copying them and then nudging the copies to a new location. When I quit out of EIAS and come back in, all the "tails" or distance arrow heads have defaulted back to their original location. The light body stays to the moved place ok. Are there any hidden tricks to moving and copying lights? Also, what is the best way to export and then import a light into a new project, keeping all the parameters. Any help much appreciated. fantomaz Posted March 8, 2013 Report Posted March 8, 2013 Hi Thomo, my way to move lights: • link the light(s) to a null • move the null • unlink the light from the null all should be intact and fine :shy: Alex Quote
Thomo Posted March 8, 2013 Author Report Posted March 8, 2013 Ahh! Thanks Alex I hadn't thought of that. Quote
fantomaz Posted March 9, 2013 Report Posted March 9, 2013 No prob, we are here to help :shy: Next: you can 'export' your lights with everything in place, when you export them as a fact model - just like exporting real geometry. In a new project you can import that model just like every other fact file. Alex Quote
Thomo Posted March 9, 2013 Author Report Posted March 9, 2013 Thanks Alex, I have done that but some parameters seem to not come through. I'll try it again and see if was just a one off occurrence, I can't remember which parameters didn't come through. Greg BTW. Is there some reason why I don't get email notification of responses? This has happened in the past, been fixed and seems to be happening again. Thanks again Quote
Tomas Egger Posted March 12, 2013 Report Posted March 12, 2013 Ola Greg, Select a Light in the Project window, then Press first “Commandâ€, and second “V†together, then with both pressed, click in the Lights “gnomes†axis and choose, Y, Z or X and move with your mouse :) Btw: if you have a animation path, the entire path will move without any change, you can use in Multiple groups too. Thanks Tom Quote
RichardJoly Posted March 13, 2013 Report Posted March 13, 2013 ... BTW. Is there some reason why I don't get email notification of responses? This has happened in the past, been fixed and seems to be happening again. Thanks again Have you tried clicking "Follow this topic" on the right of the topic title at the top? Quote
