jakev Posted March 29, 2011 Report Posted March 29, 2011 Very nice Alisdair Jones. I'm envious. I'd love to do those traveling light trails similar to long exposure tail lights on moving cars in the "connected" projects. How can I accomplish this look? Anyone know where to start? Glowing traveling texture maps warping along a path in 3d space? Or is this just faked dimension (west and east segment) in a compositing program? Any insight in here would be appreciated. Thanks. alisdair Posted March 29, 2011 Report Posted March 29, 2011 Everyone - thanks for the kind words! jakev - The long exposure light trails were just that - I went out one night with my DSLR and took over 300 4-second exposure shots of passing cars. It was tricky to find a spot that was dark enough but had a lot of traffic. I sequenced them together in After Effects and mapped them on to deformed planes in EIAS. I shot all the background time-lapse plates too so I knew how to set up the cameras in EIAS to match. When I composited the renders back in After Effects, I had to adjust the gamma with the levels plug-in and add a glow filter. Quote
