  1. Thanks Richard. I knew about that list before. but it doesn't really tell you how to fix the problem, as far as I can see. At any rate, I am now back to square one. I cannot get any renders out of EIAS 8. After having it set up and working well, I tried to reinstall the Demo of EIAS 9, to export some models, and since then I can't seem to get any renders at all. I have since deleted EIAS 9, trashed and reinstalled EIAS 8 a few times, run ONYX, deleted the preference files in my library folder, deleted the ccn file several times, the CachePageFile file several times, but still nothing. Camera launches, and does nothing, with no error code. At other times it launches, gives an error code and quits. But it's not working at all, and I can't think of anything to fix it.
  2. Richard, thanks for that reply. The Sponza file was a test file that was created by Reuben around the time of EIAS 6.5, to show the Globall Illumination feature, which I think was new in 6.5. I don't remember Reuben's surname. The model and texture files are very small. The fac model is 3.9 MB and the biggest texture is 115kb. I didn't know that you could set the Camera RAM to more than the actual physical RAM in the computer, but there you have it. Season's greetings to you and all EI users.
  3. Never mind. I set the RAM allocation for Camera to 20000 MB, and it all seems fine now. Thanks
  4. Hi all, I've been away from 3D work for along while. I just reinstalled my copy of EIAS 8, and when I try to render the old Sponza GI project, I get the following error : I have tried to delete the entire EAIS 8 folder, deleted preference files etc. but i can't get any renders at all. Sometimes the Camera window opens, but all the information fields are blank. Any help would be most appreciated. Thanks PS : running an Mac Pro 3.1, OSX 10.6.8 Snow Leopard with all current updates, and 12GB RAM.
  5. Many thanks Tomas. I appreciate the fast reply.
  6. Agree with this. Nice work EIAS 3D. Can anyone confirm hardware and software requirements for v9 ? Snow Leopard and a 2.1 Mac Pro for example ?
  7. Thanks Tomas. I appreciate your reply. All the best with v9. I hope it is all you want it to be and more.
  8. Thanks Tomas. Are you planning on offering any specials for upgrading ? e.g if you upgrade before the official release date, or if you upgrade within so many days of the release date etc. ? Thanks
  9. Hello all, I'm just wondering if a decision has been made on upgrade pricing to v9 ? Thanks
  10. Juanxer, many thanks for your prompt and helpful reply. This is good to know. At least one less app to pay for and learn. But now I must learn how to do multi pass renders and composite EI buildings onto real sites, all in Photoshop. Are you aware of any books or online tutorials where I could learn this ? I have Photoshop CS, CS3 and CS4. Many thanks once again. I appreciate your time.
  11. Hello all, apologies if this question is not strictly EI related. I own a copy of the Lance Evans book "Professional 3D with Electric Image Universe " - in this book he mentions multi pass rendering, and how one can use this method to save time when re rendering images, and I guess also to place an EI generated building onto a photo of the actual site. I have been quite intrigued by these ideas for a while (multi pass rendering and compositing). I know nothing about after effects, so I'm curious to know the following : 1. for still image arch viz, is AE really helpful, given today's faster computers ? 2. Are there other competing packages out there that could do the same job ? AE seems quite expensive, and looks quite hard to learn. Many thanks in advance.
  12. Chip, thanks for sharing those images. The image of the black and white floppy could by itself prop up this whole thread. Jay Roth and Mark Granger ended up at Newtek a few years back, although Jay Roth has now left - wonder if Mark is still there. I never did hear anything much about Markus Houy after EI - I wonder what happened to him ? Thanks again.
  13. Joe, thanks for your reply. Appreciate your time. Sounds like the 8 core Mac Pro is the way to go. Thanks again.
  14. Alex, thanks for your response. I appreciate you taking the time to help me out. And thanks for sharing your past experiences. Well it's off to eBay for me. Thanks again.
  15. Hello all, I have some older macs lying around, and apart from selling them on eBay or similar, one other thought i had was to network them and set up a small render farm for EI. They are almost all G4's, so 'm just curious to know if the effort will be worth it, or if I'm just wasting my time. I have : G4 cube 450 MHz 2 G4 Powerbooks (667 and 1 Ghz) G4 MDD tower, 1.25 GHZ dual processor. Quicksilver G4 933 Mhz tower Macbbok Pro 2.4 Ghz 17 inch display. My main computer is a dual core G5 tower. Hardly cutting edge stuff I know. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks
  16. It seems as though the business closed for good on 3rd december 2010. www.tripledtools.com
  17. Greetings all, I'm just wondering what will be done with the old EITG forums ? The EITG website is gone, and they've taken the forums with them. There was a lot of useful information on those forums, accumulated over many years. Apologies in advance if my query puts certain noses out of joint - this is not my intention. It would be a shame to see all that information disappear. Thanks
  18. Ola Tomas, thanks for your reply, and thanks for helping me out. Ciao :)
  19. Thanks Tomas. This is a little vague. What is the definition of recent ? I'm running Leopard 10.5.8, so that one is ok. What about Tiger ?
  20. Tomas, my copy of EIAS 8 is a universal binary and runs fine on my G5 tower. I was surprised when I read your comment that it is Intel only. Sorry to hijack the thread. Thanks
