  1. What i really like is an app for an mobile device (iPhone, HTC,...) that can control and monitor Renderama and the slaves. Nothing complicated, but in case of a fail you would be able to restart and stopp, maybe reorder the jobs. This could be done via VPN. Alex

  3. Congrats! Better late than never: all the best from an also 49er from Germany :-) Alex
  4. Great! Lots of work, lots of rendering and good looking pics and movie! I always wondered how it will look like when i put all the preview renders in a movie, now i have an idea! For my next prj i will try to remember to save all these files, must be fun to watch. Maybe we can have a special forum for this kind of "movies". Alex
  5. Latest work from the last three month, lots of miles driving for the background footage....lots of 3D modelling. An imagefilm about the new regional concept for the integration of new trains, busses and streetcars. If you like, i can cut a short version with only the 3D scenes. 6. I know that, but it did not work in Motion4 for me, everywhere else it worked fine. I could only see the first frame of an animation, same with .img in Motion4. Alex
  7. Yes, a fallback option to SL is like to be on the safe side, i will do it too since harddisks are so cheap these days its not a financial problem. Alex
  8. >What do you guys recommend for FCP or Motion editing?< Since i cant get .img with Motion4 to work, i choose PNG in that case. Or i convert .img to MOV with animation codec, works fine. And with Motion5 i dont know, i have to wait for some customer to pay their bills so i can buy FCPX with Motion5 and Compressor5. As soon i have these Apps, i will come back to you. FinalCutPro7 is able to work with .img when the EI-Quicktime component is installed (from Toby Thain -> Link). The problem with Lion is: as far as i understood there is no QuickTime as engine anymore, so we have to wait and look what comes then. Alex
  9. Is this a still? You can try to render in stripes. Alex
  10. No problem, same here: since 4 weeks i have nearly no time for testing, we need the (good/bad) weather to do video shooting (unfortunately miles away from my office). Anyway, here is a very-very rough test from April this year: Water - from Blender to EIAS Alex
  11. As far as i see (to answer my own question from above), you need an other cube containing all other models (fluids, obstacles,...) set to "Domain" to run the sim. Now i am tweaking the settings, that the water will flow through the spiral :D Alex
  12. @Frank First thanks for the tutorial, sounds good! I played with a self modeled shape and cant get the sim to work. I did a cube and a spiral under the cube and a second cube under the spiral. A third cube is inside the top cube and stands for the water. So the water should run from the above cube through the spiral into the second cube. So far so good. But when i am in Blender and follow the tutorial i was told to set the self modeled shape to obstacable, not to domain. But when you do this, there is no "Bakebutton" anymore ... You only get a bakebutton when you set your model to "domain", but then the sim stays in place and nothing happend. What to do? Any ideas? Alex
  13. I like it, very cool! Alex
  14. To all who are in the process of buying new Macs: WAIT! After a year of using my MacBookPro C2D at 2.53MHz it was time to replace it with a new one. The days before Eastern i bought a new MacBookPro with the i7 proc with Sandybridge at 2.0 GHz. Since last Tuesday i was in a tight deadline and decided to let the MacBookPro render some frames too, to support the overall prozess. Hey, this Mac beats all! Scene: 1024x576, AA at 4x4-2x2, GI with 650 rays, 500k polys, Photons with 150k rays iMac i7 at 2.8 8GB - 2min/frame MacPro Nehalem Quad at 2.66 -2.10min/frame MacPro 1.1 Quad (the first ever built) at 2.66 8GB - 3.30min/frame MacPro Nehalem Octo at 2.26 16GB - 2.05min/frame and now look: MacBookPro i7 Sandybridge at 2.0 (!!) 8GB - 78sec/frame So lets wait for the new MacPros with this kind of processor inside! Alex

    New work

Great videos and animations! One question: how did you manage to use Oxygene from Jean-Michel Jarre? Years ago we tried to use this music for a customer and the management around JMJ told us, that he (JMJ himself) is the only one who decide to whom he gives his music and for what price... Alex
  17. Have you tried Photons? Alex
  18. Number three is here! I love them too (when you have figured out how they work... ) Alex
  19. Richard, thats true. But imagine a winding country road with that car, nice backgrounds, maybe some mountains, some cool camera positions, some rendermachines like the new 12cores and.... *plop* Ok, we dont have Reelmotion or a similar tool. Blaaaaaaiiiiiiiiiir!
  20. Hey Richard, GREAT!!!!! You know, i love cars and animations of/with cars and this is a really cool one!!! (uhm, Reelmotion?!?.......ok, i say nothing) Alex
  21. Hm, that was not Teagues work? I thought so over all the years
  22. Hey Teague! Of course i have the video, it looks as good as watching it for the first time, here we go: Work_hard.mov Alex
  23. Here is a good one, just for inspiration: http://www.imaginaryforces.com/archive/alphabetical/503 Alex
  24. Hi Tom! Also from Germany the best wishes for your birthday! Congrats :) May the force always be with you! Alex
  25. Boah! All thumbs (that i have) up in the air, looks really great. Sometimes its worth to do some things by hand, you have fully control over what it should look. And in this case, it looks wonderful and realistic to me. Alex
