Camera Map and Model animation... Teaser Trailer.
fantomaz replied to Whatever's topic in EIAS Artworks
...as we have a VFX team working on it now, and they're all like, "Electric What!?!". Oh yes, i know that! It reminds me on the situation Apple was in the late 90th and early 2000th. Everyone around me declares me totally stupid and "help-resistant" when i told them: wait, just wait! The time will come. And as long as we wait, i will use their computers. And? Look where Apple is now! Maybe we see someday a totally changed CG market with Ei on top, who knows? Nevertheless, i am totally happy, that i have waited (and used Apple computers with EIAS on them :-) fantomaz -
Hi and thanks all! First they wanted only one or two pictures in the hall with lots of vehicles in the pictures, but when i showed them what is possible with camera mapping they were totally astonished. Too bad, that there was so little time for the job... We discussed how to make better photos so that distortion was not so high when you are in the endzone of the hall, but unfortunately the momentary leaser of the hall had left tons of europalettes in the hall, so it was not possible. I think the last quarter of the hall is photoshoped by me, so that you cant see all the garbage there... One thing i didnt finished, because of less time, was the crane at the ceiling. He is still in good shape and working and with camera mapping it looks very cool when he drives up and down the long hall with a train on his hook. Maybe next time... :) Greetings fantomaz

Hi all A customer of mine wanted to reactivate an old industrial hall. In this hall steam trains were maintenanced for more than 50 years. Since 30 years the hall was empty or used for logistic for other companies. But now my customer reactivates this industrial building for which the building was originaly built: maintenance of trains. The main hall is 190m long and 110m wide... For the big press event they wanted to have a stage in the middle of the hall and a big screen, where they wanted to show some Powerpoints and of course, my movie. Everything was made in 2 1/2 weeks, so there was no time for big storyboards or long testings. Today was the event and everything was fine and everyone was happy. Here it is: http://www.cobra-gestaltung.com/EIAS/Borsigstrasse_512x288_H264_short.mov Greetings fantomaz

Hi Tomas 6 machines here, where two of them are also the main machines with EIAS and PS and the rest of software which is needed on them. So four machines are mainly renderslaves with 20 cores. I am very exited to see MP Camera :) fantomaz

Is there a chance in the next Rama version, that user can change the length of the window, so that you can see more slaves and what they are doing at once? It happend often, that a slave crashes and when the slave is at the end of the slave-list in the Rama window it can happen that no one notice it for a longer time. In my setup, there are 24 slaves to 36 and its very annoying to not notice it...as you can all imagine... fantomaz

In the past i had this error message too. My workaround was: put a space between the characters and try again. Sometimes this way was working for me. After the characters are fact files, its easy to place them in your scene at the right position. Also avoid any bevels in the making window, only plain characters. fantomaz

HELP WITH PURCHASING and IMPORTING OBJ with OBJ2fact

Polytrans do write fact files, no problem with it. fantomaz -
I have seen good results with this: http://www.c4dplugin.com/indexx.php -> Click on 'Plug-in Shop' and navigate to "Drive!" Its a lot cheaper than the other suggestions fantomaz

Hi Brian, i use bootcamp from Apple, there is no extra app to buy, it came from Apple and works under 10.4./10.5./10.6. The Windows version is a normal WIN-XPpro, it came with an old PC i bought years ago which is now in 'hardwareheaven', but the systemsoftware XP runs fine on the Intelmac Quad 2.66 GHz since 2 years. I installed it on an "old" 250GB harddrive in slot 4. You can find unused/new WIN-XP at eBay for less than 40$/€... Of course you have to reboot when you want to use WIN, but once or twice a month its ok (in my opinion...;-). fantomaz

Hi Brian, we use PT since a couple of years and are extremely satisfied. Not only the number of geoformats PT can handle, also the suppport is very well. At the first look all the PT-windows are a bit confusing, but after a while you see, that many of these possibilitys are very helpful in the conversion process. And the export to fact is extreme fast, even with millions of polys. The investment of around 400$ is worth every penny and since the Intelmacs can run Wndows, we dont need an extra PC. fantomaz

- Shouldn't we call it a "Something"? - No, a 'Plugket' :-)

Hi all, when you disable a slave in Rama main window while he is rendering and the slave is ready with his rendering, you cant reselect this slave. The window says: Transfering file, but no matter what you are clicking this slave cant go to work anymore until you restart Rama itself. The rendered file is properly transfered and the slave machine says: Job: No job Status: Waiting Since there is no crash file, only this description is possible. fantomaz

Its not a new feature, its more an idea for the users: As an old betatester i liked the art to have (from time to time, sometimes often, sometimes not so often) a chatroom to talk to the others on the old Hotlineplattform. It was a nice place to meet each other and to talk about life and of course about EIAS. Since there are only a few people left and was very quiet the last times i visited its no fun anymore to stay there. Maybe someone from the new team here can set up a new irc- or Hotline- or something-else-server for that? fantomaz

This is wired, i have updated the machine where Rama runs from 10.4 to 10.5 and in the last 4 days no crash, and i have done lots of preview renderings in phong like before. Around 70 previews all 15 seconds long and all rendered fine and stitched perfect. Nothing else has changed in my office, only the update to Leo, strange. But wasnt there a phrase: never change a running system?!? I dont understand it, but in 47 years youve learned: you cant understand everything... Hope that the crashes are gone! But i will investigate further. fantomaz

EI Modeler only (!) Sometimes, when it comes to very basic models like cubelike and so on, i use the superold "Zoom" from Abvent on a OS9-basis  (shame on me...) fantomaz
-
Dont slap me for this: Mousewheel support in the project window fantomaz

Here too. Rama quits with no error, mostly between 99.x% to 99.8% when rendering or stitching. The only pattern i see is, when a slave has fallen in sleep and i wake him up by hand and ad him in the slave list again. Sometimes a pattern seems to be when Rama has startet for the first time in the morning and the first render is going, then at 99.x% it crashes. After restart, everything is ok. Except a slave falls to sleep, then look above... fantomaz

Hey , its nice that so many answers are made here :-) Some stats: • 7.6 million polygon • 9500x4300 pixel resolution • everything is set to raytrace (reflections and transparency) • GI options: 350 primary rays • GI Sampling 2x2 • one area light (outside the room over the roof) Its too big to put the project online, i will do further tests when there is more time. fantomaz

Yupp, me too... Because of the horrible rendertimes i gave up on investigating that errors. fantomaz

Hi all now we have four places to post: • the old postforum (no one goes there these days) • cgsociety • original EI website and forum • this place here We should talk about where to post what i think, or is there a rule i dont see at the moment? :) Greetings fantomaz

Hi all A project to test and play with the features of EI8. The pictures at the walls are pictures made with EI6 to EI8. All modeled with EIM, except the AC-COBRA, only some repairing of parts of it were made with EIM. No Photoshop, one arealight, one spot for the sign. The original is 9500x4300 pixel and rendered 27 hours with 12 cameras. Have fun
