  1. I would say bullet soft body is probably very likely in the next version. I would definitely say that a node shader material system has to implemented to really move forward at some point. Pixels3d has a very decent one and they started off as a plugin to the old electricimage way back when. Perhaps something could be worked out with them? One good improvement might be a schematic view or window for modeling. A modeler or a package deal with Silo might be good like they did before. But Hexagon is free and works well with electricimage. Plus the old Modeler is still useable too. I was using carrarapro 7 the other day and the fbx export is crap. No animations were exported for some reason. Very slow to use that program, although it has some good features and can be used. The renders are good but EIAS is a better faster renderer. But you will tear your hair out waiting for renders and the incessant bugs and the interface that is just not designed with production in mind. Electricimage was designed from the ground up for people who work everyday and that's one of it's strengths. The best thing about Electricimage is that it's fast and easy to use and more powerful than you might think. When things are implemented they work!
  2. I see they're selling Silo cheap here: http://store.steampowered.com/app/100400/ How about a deal for mac or EIAS users too? I find Hexagon which is free to be a fairly decent tool. So far works well with EIAS. Terrific extrude tool in Hexagon.
  3. Yes that did the trick! I see in the biped tutorial he had it set on ten. Wow I completely forgot about the sliders.
  4. How do I get the bones to look like the biped tutorial? I get a skinny toothpick type thing. How does the display of bones work? Is it based on model size?
  5. I spotted this software and it looks quite interesting. http://shadermap.com/ Free and a cheap pro version. Of any use?
  6. I hope Silo gets it together. I've had good success with DAZ Hexagon which was recently updated and exporting as obj to EI through transporter. Of course I can't open old Hex files so I have to keep an old version around. As for Adobe, they've become greedy. There's no market growth for them so...milk the user base.
  7. I just noticed this the other day too. It's good news! It's a pretty decent app if they fix it up. I'm going to run it on my older machine and see what happens. Daz says not to run it on the same machine as the old 2.5 version.
  8. I'm pretty sure that Lightwave and Cinema and Carrara are using the Bullet physics stuff in their apps so probably at some point maybe EIAS too?
  9. Very cool. Can the motion info show up in the f curve editor? One simple thing I tried was: I moved an uber sphere around with mouse tracker. Then I used the add Keyframe command to the last frame of the sphere and the path for the sphere showed up.I don't think you can actually edit the path though. I'm not sure, but maybe clicking create uv in the ubershape for sphere might cause a problem with mousetracker. I'll check that again.
  10. I actually got this to happen but I have no idea what I did and can't recreate it. It had something to do with link unlink. But as it, I don't see any data there from mouse tracker. That's normal?
  11. Wonder if this works with eias. What's the best way to do lipsynching in eias right now? Maybe I'll download the trial and give it a try. http://www.thirdwishsoftware.com/magpiepro_features9.html
  12. Hexagon is definitely being worked on. Looks like a bug fix version. http://forum.daz3d.com/viewtopic.php?t=157873&sid=2e2bdf3763231d99c63c78b1bd3b025e
  13. It's worth a shot. The more programs you have the better. You'll end up using all of them. Maybe they need a quick shot of cash. I can't figure out whether to go cheap or blow 40 bucks. But don't forget, Electricimage will get there. It's the one I use the most because it's fast and powerful. I'm sure they're working on improving the character animation. It's not like Messiah is miles and miles ahead. Other thing is, it's intel only on mac, for those who might have older machines. I notice maya and others have put their prices way up which is a mistake. You can't do that anymore in my opinion. Studios will stick with the versions they have and save money at this point.
  14. It's all good news. I hope Hexagon keeps going. It was really an easy modeler to get into. I still use it all the time. Quirky yes, but if it can be fixed up , very cheap and very good. You can get the job done. As it is, people are having problems on certain macs.
  15. Well in the long run we're probably all going to have to get ag mondo clouds! The clouds shader can get a big cloud type thing going in the transparency channel of a sphere attached to Power Particles. Try it on their cloud primer file. The stylized fire stuff with color to glow I think works fine. Maybe gars can provide more details on just how some of those examples were done?
  16. Very cool article. You can use google translate and save the web page out. It translates 90 percent of it except for some of the images.
  17. I think the problem is when you use power particles pro itself to emit spheres. When I do that the cloud shader doesn't seem to get the job done. I'll investigate further.
  18. Aha! I see my mistake I forgot to scale the cloud shader! Scale to 40 and it works. Fire might be a different problem so I'll test that further.
  19. I'm using power particles pro and so far the answer would be no. Is it because the clouds shader is not greyscale? I can get a smoke effect with ag fblocks with reactive off (some slight artifacts though). Just trying to see what the electricimage shaders can do. Using power particles cloud primer as a test file
  20. With the dough I saved on the power particles upgrade I got AFraktal which is a very cool shading system! All the best to Gars!
  21. What a deal! At these prices you have to take a look at some of their stuff. I'm glad I got the upgrade to power particles for free. It's a great little system. The dough I saved I can use for afraktal or aedge. Not sure which though. I think AFrakal would add a lot of power to the shading system in electricimage. Has anyone used it and are there any future problems with eias 9?
  22. Do you know if we can still order power particles pro from tripledtools and for how long? I sent them an email so hopefully they will reply. If you end up integrating it all the better.
  23. Well this isn't good news at all as I was going to upgrade my copy of power particles pro to universal binary. Now I don't know what to do . Also the question: What is the future of particles in EIAS? It's obviously got to be beefed up. Integrate powerparticles pro? Maybe Northernlights should offer an upgrade type price to PP users to Dante 3? Assuming they're still around.
  24. Well, it looks like silo has some life! 2.2 released . Maybe talk to them and see if they're committed or want to do a deal like before. In any event if you have an old mac you'll have to use silo 2.1
  25. I think it would be a good idea when a Master Material is created, to have a save to disk button show up in the material palette window. Click on it and get the standard save dialog and so on. This is quicker than subsequently dragging the material ball icon into the material palette which unless you read the manual, you might get stumped as to what to do.
