  1. It's odd, because one or two postscript fonts work. This work fined in the old 2.92. If it's a problem with everyone, then it should be looked into. I have the same problem with the old modeler too.
  2. Anybody having problems using postscript fonts? I keep getting error message and can't generate anything. Don't know if it's because I'm on a partitioned drive. True type fonts work but that's it.
  3. I agree about hexagon and modo. It's a shame hexagon seems to be in limbo. There's probably more life in silo. But the old silo interface I found was better than the new one. One of the best things in Hexagon is the extrude tool. It's sensational. There doesn't seem to be anything quite like it anywhere. Daz should get their act together. Carrara pro is interesting, but you will pull your hair out waiting for some of those renders. Interface slows you down too.Very buggy at times. This is one of the best things about EIAS, it's streamlined , powerful, and geared for speed and gets the job done! Simple as that.
  4. Just on a side note, I have had success using hexagon. It's buggy but some great features. It's another software though with a dubious future. I exported as obj and went through transporter. Can't remember the exact settings I used But I have it written down if anyone is interested. Can you extrude points and edges in silo? It doesn't seem to work that well in the demo I have.
  5. In the absence of any news on the tesla modeler, how about teaming up with Newercenter again? Maybe they could offer a discount for eias users for Silo pro. It'll get the job done for characters and for people on a budget. I've used Hexagon successfully with eias but it is has more bugs than my backyard. Some good features, but unless daz fixes it up buyer beware.
  6. Anything happening on the modeler front? Haven't heard anything in awhile.
  7. I don't blame you, you can't be too careful. As long as you ask them you should be ok. I'm sure they'll let you put it up. It's free publicity for them. Maybe if they say yes you can put a link to their website. That should satisfy them.
  8. Anyway to maybe put the actual review there as a pdf ? I don't know if it's a good or bad review but I think 3d world will let you do it if you ask. Anybody read the review?
  9. One would hope that that they would get in touch with you and keep using you. They need more training material. It's a weak point especially on rigging and more advanced stuff. Those other dvd's you had planned would have really filled in the gaps for less experienced people like me. What topics are covered on the fk spine dvd? Which dvd is better for understanding ik and so on?
  10. So if I try to save or open an animator file which was moved to a partition on on my hd which does not have os x,animator puts up an error opening file type message. If I move the file back to the main hd it works. Something to do with the usb key? It won't save a new file to the partition either. Anybody else have the problem? I'm on os 10.4.11. I'll check on leopard and see if the same thing happens.
  11. I've just been experimenting with different type things, but I get this message a lot. What does it mean?
  12. Have you got a list of your dvds on rigging and so forth? Something on rigging characters and so on. I think you had a human rig one coming out at one point. You know it might be an idea for eias to include them in their package and maybe give you a royalty. Pro advice and tutorials are definitely needed.
  13. Is it possible to cycle through the different redraw styles(wireframe, shaded etc) from the keyboard in addition to the popup?
  14. It's using the rotate command from the menu that disables these commands somehow. Just follow the steps above then pick rotate and the commands won't work. If you go back to translate on the menu they work.
  15. Well it's working now every time! So here's a quick test: 1.Open a new file. 2.Make an uber sphere or bring in a sphere. 3.Go to the Material window for the sphere. 4.Add a diffuse map. (In my case I added a pdf. I didn't know you could do that!) 5.Double click the diffuse map and go into the texture window. 6.Change the mapping projection to spherical. Press the alignment tab so you can see if the texture is rotating. 7. Press the letter O to orbit the sphere so you can see the axes in the texture window. 8. Now press one of the commands to rotate the texture and click on one of the green axes circles and drag the mouse. Keep the mouse button pressed down. The texture will rotate only on the one axis. If you don't click on the green circle and hold the mouse button down the commands won't work. Works just like in 2.92!
  16. Well, I can't get it to work today for some reason. It worked a second ago with out pressing t at all, now nothing. Can't orbit the view either. Odd. It looks like when you go the menu you override these commands somehow. It's a weird thing. You can translate the texture by using the individual axes but not rotate.
  17. They were in the old 2.9.2 Electricimage so I tried them out again. I recently upgraded so tried a few old things out. I don't think they're in the current manual. I didn't realize you could do it from the menu bar too. Whoops. They're cool secret commands though. I was thinking that you could rotate the texture in the window without using any commands, just rotate the axes and the texture would rotate.
  18. in the map projection window if you press t and then use command +option you can rotate texture on the x axis. Control+command will rotate the texture on y axis. Control+option+command rotates on z axis. But we don't see the rotation axes. might be a good idea to put them in? We can then do it using the axes?
  19. I think it's time to get some Open type support. This is the format for all new typefaces from Adobe. Also some kind of type preview in the type box would be good to visualize what you're going to get (changing bevels etc.)
