Updating old projects from 2.75

Here is an odd one,

I have really old projects that i did as a student in EIAS 2.75p I wanted to updated them to the latest EIAS 9.

I was able to get the motion data all the why up to EIAS 3.0 but at that stage any project that used Standard Shape plugin gets lost because the plugin no longer works in EIAS 3.0.

2.9 is the last version i can get it to by moving the old standard shape plugin in the the 2.9 sockets folder. I tried to get Uber shape to replace the standard shape but that just resets the models data to a default plane.

none of this is all that important. all my projects that didn't use standard shape projects transferred correctly as it just used FACT models. something i never thought about before is that as soon as a plugin goes defunct then so does the data that plugin created. never realized that before. i just assumed that once plugin was used that data was stored in the project file and the plugin was only need with the plugin data needed to be recalculated when modified.

So i was curious if anyone had any ideas on how to keep the data to transfer it. export as a FACT but then the motion data won't be attached to the data in the project and that data has to be recreated. or can use replace plugin created model with an imported model ?

thanks

Hi Mickael,

I had the same probs some time ago. The only way i found:

Using 2.92 with the original file, than open in 3.0 and save, than in 4.0 and save, than in 5.5 and save,

than in 6 or 7 (don't remember exactly) and save, and final in 9. All the version in an untouched fresh installation...

Some of the motion data could be saved and reimported and assigned to a new plugin-file (Ubershape f.e.)

Good luck!

Alex
