I picked up an old Lightwave 9.6 for very little.

 

What can Electricimage bring in from Lightwave?

You can read animated Camera, Lights, geometry and some simple character Animations from old LW scenes.

We improved LW import to bring 3d tracked scenes from the PF Track 3d tracking software.

The LW import into EI rocks.  It even imports transparency settings along with object names, diffuse color.

I don't seem to be bringing anything in from their sample scene files.

Does it have to be saved as an old lightwave scene?

Yes, need to be saved as old lightwave scene.

Please, download these 2 simple LW scenes and use the “open” menu bar command in EIAS Animator to load the LW scene, it will ask you to save as EIAS Project.

Nothing happens in eias 8 when I open them.

I get an ambient light and that's it.

It will not work in EIAS 8, only in EIAS 9.1, please, to test, open these files using EIAS 9.1 demo.

Does version 8 import anything from Lightwave?

I'm not getting objects either.Even in old file formats.

I tried an old file and I got the following error:

Assertion failed on line 54 of file/Development/EIAS 8.0.0/EIAS Project/Animator Resources/FW/From Atlas/FS/Private/FS_Locator.cpp

 

Can't test the files on the demo my machine is too old.

Fbx might work.

I'll try opening some files in the old EIAS 2.92 which I'm sure will work with 5.6 files.

EIAS 8 had several bugs with LW imported scenes, Its why we improved it a lot for EIAS 9 :)

Hope you have a chance to test EIAS 9.1 soon, Im pretty sure you will like it!
