spleeve
Hi, I have a metal pipe that twists all over the place. I want to put a texture and bump map on it to simulate a segmented look. The problem is that I can't get anything that really works. Any suggestions? There are no UVs. Michael.
Tomas Egger
Ola Michael, Lots of twists? the easiest way in my mind without UV would use Cylinders Ubershapes with Bezier 2 to follow your pipe, if you use all bezier handles of your deformation and your replacement pipe is not finished, add another extension... after that, you need to add only cylinder textures in your pipes which will work perfectly. Other suggestion, You could use a Ubershabe cylinder with a huge segmentation with UV data turned ON and use a plug-in like Contorcionist and scale the cylinder in Z direction, the path will be a effector which will design the same pipe design. http://www.northernlights3d.com/Products/products.html Thanksss Tom
BJMonkey
Or you can just UV map the pipe... If it's just a pipe, it should be pretty easy.

Yes, I will have to start looking into a third party UV editor. I used to use 'Steamroller' (which admittedly wouldn't have done the job for this), until I moved to an Intel machine and 'Steamroller' didn't and hasn't. Michael.
