Bug when using Slatemaker from Northern Lights. Works fine in Vers. 7 of EI but not in Vers. 8. EI 8 seems to destroy the plugin data.

- Open a new project

- add an ubershape sphere

- add a light in front of the camera

- in the light settings add Slatemaker under lightflares, check Show Angle, Show Flare, Show Illumination and then on the right only Enable Offscreen.

- SM shows up in EI and renders the first time you do a snapshot but after that you get an error every time.

- This has been verified on different machines.

This is an EI bug. Slatemaker hasn't changed since 7.0 or 6.5 for that matter. The only thing that has changed is EI. My guess is that Animator isn't resetting something in the control file data.

This is an OS bug (just one step more  )

Yes, there is one thing that's changed in EI8 for flares plugins: memory reallocation. The reason was that Darwin OS does not release memory as needed.

Example: 1 Gb block was allocated, then this block size is shrinked to 1K. Alas, still 1 Gb is busy :dodgy:

In practice it caused few flares to run render out of RAM. Thus allocation was changed in order to avoid this problem. As a side effect the address of reallocated block is always changed (no matter it grows or shrinks). It does not contradict to plugins API that never declared you can rely on unchanged address.

Please check this. If it's not so, please equip us with the plugin. and we'll inform you all details what's changed on host's side

Thanks
