Phungus Posted May 1, 2011 Report Posted May 1, 2011 Curious as to what you guys think of this? http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=8bDaRXvXG0E&feature=player_embedded Quote
Tomas Egger Posted May 1, 2011 Report Posted May 1, 2011 Ola, The main idea its interesting for sure :) Thanks Tom Quote
Phungus Posted May 1, 2011 Author Report Posted May 1, 2011 Some more info on the subject: http://code.blender.org/index.php/2011/04/modernizing-shading-and-rendering/ Looks like blender is turning into a commercial app killer. Quote
Tomas Egger Posted May 2, 2011 Report Posted May 2, 2011 Ola, They want to be production proof for sure, let's see what will happen. Thanks Tom Quote
spleeve Posted May 2, 2011 Report Posted May 2, 2011 Curious as to what you guys think of this? http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=8bDaRXvXG0E&feature=player_embedded I think it's great! Been using Blender to model with after the confirmed demise of EIM, and am very impressed with it as a package. 2.5 really spiffed up the interface and a lot of the workflows, plus the new particle systems are amazing (when you consider the price of the app:). I'm really enjoying the integrated approach to modeling, texturing, animation and rendering. It has got a good UV editor as well, and this alone alleviates a lot of the problems encountered with EIAS. Still prefer the look and feel of Animators renderer - the thing that originally attracted me to the app - but as these links point out there is a lot going on in the Blender community, and a ton of tutorials online. Hope V9 does a lot to narrow the gap, because for a free, open source application Blender kicks butt! Quote
Tomas Egger Posted May 2, 2011 Report Posted May 2, 2011 Ola, Blender is a good combo with us :) Thanks Tom Quote
Frankg Posted May 4, 2011 Report Posted May 4, 2011 I've done a video tutorial a time ago how to get blender fluids into Cinema4D. It works also really good with EIAS. Much better render of course:) regards Frankg Quote
Tomas Egger Posted May 4, 2011 Report Posted May 4, 2011 Hey Frankg, Do you have time to do a video tutorial showing Blender / EIAS combo with fluids? Thanks Tom Quote
Frankg Posted May 4, 2011 Report Posted May 4, 2011 Hi Tomas, I think so. My original file contains even a little introduction to blender in general. The part to make the fluids and bring them into EIAS should be about half an hour. regards Frankg Quote
Tomas Egger Posted May 4, 2011 Report Posted May 4, 2011 Ola Frank, Will be great to see it :) Did you ever tried Blender / EIAS with MDD? (I know it doesn't work with fluids). Thanks Tom Quote
Phungus Posted May 4, 2011 Author Report Posted May 4, 2011 I've done a video tutorial a time ago how to get blender fluids into Cinema4D. It works also really good with EIAS. Much better render of course:) regards Frankg I´m guessing your on a mac? Quote
Frankg Posted May 5, 2011 Report Posted May 5, 2011 I´m guessing your on a mac? Yes, but it should be no problem because blender looks and behaves the same on Mac or Windows. regards Frankg Quote
Phungus Posted May 5, 2011 Author Report Posted May 5, 2011 That is so. But so far the only way I have found to import Blender fluids into EIAS goes through OBJ sequences, and this is a PITA on the PC side, at least it was the last time I tried since you can´t select and import the whole sequence at once, you have to do it one at a time. Frankg Posted May 5, 2011 Report Posted May 5, 2011 Ok, I did it twice. The tutuorial is made on the Mac, but i used this technique for my students on a Win 7 box. It should work. regards Frankg Quote
Phungus Posted May 5, 2011 Author Report Posted May 5, 2011 Hm, that sounds interesting. Look forward to your tutorial Quote
