  1. Hay Tomas normal poke to see whats going down, anything you care to share yet?
  2. Is there no chance in getting the old modeler back do they still not want to sell it? And as I remember there was also issues with licensing the code from the another company or something like that I joined Eias in v5.5 just when it was dropped. So my question really should be asked more simply as which would be easier and more financialy viable getting old modeler or building a new one. if it's having to build a new one will the geometry engine that you have now support it or will that need to be revised. I know now this is currently the problem with lightwave modeler and layout have 2 differnt geometry engines hence they where/are working on hydra that is used in there MDD sculpting app. Oh and I have one more question too. In Eias if I import an object that has all the verts welded together but I have the object polygons split with different materials I can only seem to import it with 1 material over the whole object but keep the points welded or have multiple materials but it splits the object up and unwields the verts so now I have more objects. Is this a limitation of the fact file format or a limitation of Eias. Sorry for the totally long lost Tomas that goes off on a tangent
  3. Yeah I would love an online material library, another good thing would be a forum gallery like modo they have an amazing coummity site but I do understand the foundry is a much bigger company and they have more resources for it. But having a amazing online presence these days is a must. So maybe after Eias X maybe a updated coummity section rest of the site is cool just feel this part could be needing a little update. So we can share models images shaders Etc. But I know that needs to take a back seat for a while until eias X is ready
  4. So modeller again hehe Tomas. Oh and I liked the new image on Facebook that was cool.
  5. Dam I got my hopes up

    EIAS3D.com

Whats up with EIAS3d.com is it being updated getting errors when I try to load it. hoping there is an update and a announcement. its it time to get the credit card out yet?
  7. Looks nice cant wait to see this come alone more.
  8. I do like Paul Sherstobitoff some of those renders with the glass look really nice. i really can't get realistic glass out of EIAS. think maybe i should make that a focus of a project to see how close i can get it. on a side note been looking at mFORGE but unsure as yet looks really handy.
  9. Well this is as far as i have made it. i don't like the metal glass or the lamp shade, and there seems to be a few errors on the brick wall texture on the back. but time is up and time to move on. to something else. i mostly happy with it but still lots of improvements to be made. so hopefully next one i can improve upon this, oh yeah this was my first attempt at trying to do arch viz. any tips on glass surfaces and metal surfaces would be helpful.
  10. Right Have a little update sure there is going to be a few more before i go to sleep would like to finish this before i go to sleep so i can start something new tomorrow. tell me what you think
  11. Cheers man. I'm doing my best to try and stick with this for a few more days playing with settings and such. I'm going to put a mirror in the room soon so not sure i want to turn recursion down just yet might end up with black area's. but once it is made i will reduce that until they start to show up XD
  12. Right timed it doing what you said. 1min 3 secs at 1440x810! and i can't see any difference from the render that i posted so defiantly a massive speed boost! oh and my laptop is a 2011 macbook pro with 2.2 gz intel i7 first gen
  13. 1024X576 is the render res. hmm ok will try turning off glossy and using reflection blur instead. i thought 5 min was good haha though i have not taken an proper time frame yet as for me that is enough that i don't even get to finish my cup of tea before i am reviewing the image. but ill see if what you said can speed it up even more.
  14. haha ok found out what the shading sampling does. time to turn them back to default. should of read the manual first before i did that haha. turning on the high precision shadows though is how do i put this. SLOW!. still waiting for the render to finish haha. almost 15min now and still going!
  15. Well that render had 2 lights one sun light bringing light in the window. and one area light at the back wall for with low intensity just to help with the bounce illumination (or that was the plan anyway) both lights are photon maped 400 for the sun light and 200 for the area. and 700 yes 700 for the GI samples. family sure i can get away with a lot lower but it renders super fast anyway. 8x8 AA adaptive sampling. 4x4 GI sampling. a lot of the other settings I'm still playing with. settings that i have never touched before like turning on high precision shadows and setting the saying sampling to 4x4 just to see if i can see an difference between that and the 1x1 sampling. GI glossy is on but i don't really know how to set that up right so playing with that also. GI glossy on the dresser and nightstand as well as the floor. GI glossy rays set to default (50). with out playing with the shading sampling leaving it at 1x1 and not having high presupposition shadows turned on render time asunder 5 min
  16. Hay this is very much a WIP trying things more and more in EIAS. still love the speed of the render. so far i have lots more to model sort out the shading and lighting and worst of all have to re-topo the bedding and give it a proper UV map as the one i made seems to have messed up and now I'm stuck with a hi ploy mesh that is too dense to consider doing a new one on. other than that i think it is going rather well. the walls texture is crazy i know kind of like it but kind of don't. we see how long it stays for haha. any tips hints or just popping by to say that I'm rubbish and should stick to my day job all comments welcome XD hope you think this is alright. should have it finished by the end of the weekend.
  17. Have you tried blender. Import the .3ds there then export it out as another format?
  18. Hay Tom that was more for supernova in trying to explain what I mean about a UI update.
  19. You don't have to change it to bring it more in line with the year 2015. one thing is have you tried to use a scroll wheel? also the UI looks dated low res not as sharp as modern programs. Brining it up to date does not require they bin what we love about EIAS. some of the changes that i would like to see in EIAS is viewports that lock so re-sizing one adjust's the other. but then having the ability to brake the link so you can move them independently. the way modo lets you build your own custom layout then save it is useful. so i hope yo get my meaning when i ask for a modern UI.
  20. well what ever your doing its nice to know EI is still being used on TV and film even if its just small parts. once you got your foot in the door it puts you in the position to push it wide open!
  21. well TBH Tomas feature wise people know what i want have been vocal about a lot of it and most of them are really basic stuff although i am sure not so basic to code (64 bit, cleaned up and modern UI, better shading system with better previews, and a VPR type viewport renderer, and native sub-d not a plugin that i have to buy) none of those are really killer headline grabbing show stopping features. but thats what i am hoping for haha. I'm confident that your pushing 64bit animator since you did that with camera. the rest i guess ill have to wait and see haha oh and i forgot native instancing even though I'm sure i could just push real geo and camera just deals with things like that. but i still want it XD
  22. Sweat! can't wait at least you said Beta not alpha so that gives me hope that your just bug fixing now and when thats done its shopping time!
  23. "fxg: Electric Image, really?" Tomas you need to go round there and kick them right in the.............. Or Add all the features we need/want in EIAS 10 and on a side note while i am here any news on EIAS 10 you guys have gone a little dark and i know that means your working on it, but a little heads up like features are set working on bugs fix's or animator code has been updated for 64bit computing anything really just want to hear something XD oh apart from "we working really hard" as we all know you guys do that no need to say it anymore i mean EI V9 was a good leap forward but still has a long way to go. VPR and node base shading and a more pleasing UI when using EI its like sitting in a time machine for V10 lets set the date for 2020 and be ahead of the game haha
