Thomo
I cannot get bump or normal maps to behave correctly, particularly with straight lines. They always produce jagged edges. For example I want to use a basic line bump or normal map to recess some grooves into a wall. They always produce jaggy results no matter what I do.Has anyone got any ideas what I can do?Thanks,
S. Houtzager
Try displacement instead. Or try having a light that is very low to catch the bump map. Bump and normal maps are a trick of the eye so I use them sparingly. Steven Houtzager
AVTPro
Do you have a sample image to better illustrate the problem? Normals, Bumps and Displacement are only image maps. Jaggies or Anti-Aliasing comes from low resolution images not model geometry. Are your maps too low res? Maybe instead of jaggies you mean faceting which is low resolution polys. Is the poly count on your model too low?Hoping those questions help you better analyze the problem.
Thomo
Thanks AVT.I understand. No it is definitely not low poly count.I'll setup an example project and re-look at it.
