Thomo Posted March 6, 2013 Report Posted March 6, 2013 Can anyone explain the benefit of the proxy plugin to me? How does it differ from copying objects/groups with display set to "none" and moving and rotating them etc.? Does it save on display memory only or does it also have a "magic trick" that reduces Camera render memory also. Sorry if this is a silly question but I'd really like to buy it if it makes a big difference. Thanks Greg Quote
S. Houtzager Posted March 7, 2013 Report Posted March 7, 2013 It makes it possible to render out millions and millions of polygons plus it does it much quicker than making copies. If you have a scene with, for example, lots and lots of trees, EI may not be able to render it out unless the proxy pluggin is used. Quote
Thomo Posted March 8, 2013 Author Report Posted March 8, 2013 Thanks, that's the answer I was hoping for, great. Is the proxy plugin ready for V9, does anyone know? Quote
S. Houtzager Posted March 8, 2013 Report Posted March 8, 2013 Yup it works fine. It even works ini 64 bit mode. Quote
Thomo Posted March 8, 2013 Author Report Posted March 8, 2013 Great news, I just bought it, where do I download it? Quote
bwcc Posted March 8, 2013 Report Posted March 8, 2013 quick question about Proxy - does the high res model have to be loaded into the project? or does the low res "proxy" link to a file on disk? thanks, brian Quote
S. Houtzager Posted March 10, 2013 Report Posted March 10, 2013 Yup it does. There is a video about the pluggin in the tutorials. Quote
