I'm really enjoying the trend towards 50% gray based color schemes that are easy on my eye's color perception. Rounded corners, don't necessarily need to make anything bigger, just softer on the eyes, and a little more contemporary. I don't write code, so I don't know, but couldn't we just change out all the graphics files that the interface is built with, I think you wouldn't have to change functionality to do that.
