MAC i7 EI renderama question

im looking for another mac, and the i7 claims to, via hyperthreading, have 4 CORES.

does that mean I can successfully use 4 cameras with renderama? Assuming I have at least 2 gigs of ram per camera?

Is it a TRUE 4 core, or a slower version of it in some way...

HELP.... anyone doing this for animation... or after effects as well

thanks

Hi Scott,

i use the i7 iMac with 8GB RAM and use the 4 hardwarecores with 2GB per Camera.

In case of lowpoly projects, i switch to 6-7 Cameras with around 1,1GB per Camera

to also use the virtual cores.

Works like a horse!

iMac i7 comes with 4 cores and via hyperthreading he has 8 cores.

Hyperthreading is a way of taking advantage of the idle sections of a core for executing a second thread: it adds extra circuitry to eliminate the cost of repeatedly switching between threads, and shows it all that as if it was a second core. You can't get a 100% gain, of course, but I think up to 30% is plausible.
