  1. Thank you Richard for your thoughts.

The nightmare was unwrapping the UV's.

It actually does have SSS but I have made the darkness engulf the ears, perhaps too much? I was a bit wary of making it too "waxy" looking, there seems to be a fine line between too much and not enough :) I might try upping the it SSS however.

This image might show a bit more SSS. Let me know your thoughts.

    Thanks

  2. Hello Everyone

We have been working on some internal projects here and attached are a couple of images I wanted to share. Modelling all from scratch done in Silo, UVs etc (what a nightmare!). Rendering and animations (on our site) all done in EI9.

Let me know your thoughts and if you have any ideas to improve.

    Thanks

  3. Hi Shane

Not sure if you are opposed to working with us folks down south ;) but we are in Melbourne and have been working in EI & AE for 15 years or so. Check out our website and if you need assistance with any projects we would be more than happy to accommodate.

We create stills & animation as you will see in the site.

    Thanks

  4. Hi all

I am seeing a trend in some case in the CGI world towards supposed "Realtime Rendering." I am not really sure how it works but for a production environment it seems to be the next step allowing the creative artist to have more freedom in the process rather than trying to optimise things for the sake of the client.

I know recently we had a request to have "realtime render" so the client could come in and basically feel good about themselves!

I know the renderer in EIAS is fast, and on many occasions has saved me, but it would be great to have, at least, better quality texture previews, lighting and even transparency & reflections that are relatively fast, to help any workflow.

If this was something that EIAS were thinking then I think it would definitely be of interest not only to the EI users but also the greater CGI community. What would be the possibilities of implementing this type of thing in EIAS?

    Thanks

  5. I agree apu. The addition of global forces, including wind, maybe even fans would allow for some great effects. It doesn't seem to me to be that much of a stretch to create a full dynamics soft body system if you could add some of these controls, especially for character work it would be great.

Thanks Ian for your reply, look forward to seeing some results.

  6. Hi Ian

Sorry but I didn't specify what I meant. I mean for character animation, for example, create a face or an entire body and have the ability to sag areas such as the cheeks or belly, and even react to the animation of the character to allow for jiggle or sag over the skin.

I have been having a bit of a play and it seems that this might be possible. Not sure about the weight maps yet but I will keep playing.

    Thanks

  7. Great renders, love the metal textures especially in the mid section.

Are you using GI raytraced shadows with any of the lights, as I have found that they do not seem to work with mForge.

What size did you render the image?

    Nice work.

    Ash

I did a lot of work in Photoshop. Basically I am a stills guy - the moving images bit is a mystery to me.

Here is a shot of the 'clean' ship.

  8. Great work.

Very nice renders. Maybe to give it a little more would be to add some smoke & steam effects in the hangar and lense flares, ala the new Star Trek movie, along with some highlight glares.

Just a thought, great images and detail though.

    Ash

  9. Very nice render. Love the dark and gritty feel. Would be great to see it animated and get some of those lovely mForge texture and reflections moving!

Did you composite the clouds after or is it part of the render?

    Ash
