  1. it's a logo of inflated type coming together combined with a bunch of primitive shapes. A soft body dynamics animation I worked on with somebody else actually. I haven't tried doing it in EIAS but I guess it could be done if the cloth plugin could work along and interact with the Bullet system. So you're saying that enabling Encage would render motion blur on child model cycling? I might get encage just for that.
  2. Thanks for your reply Tom, that's great news about encage functionality for EIAS 10. I can't wait, although you know I've been saying I can't wait for years now. I've had to stretch the animation even longer to almost 1000 frames so almost 1000 child objects and now EIAS 9.1 is crashing on me after batch converting obj's to fact's which wasn't happening this morning. I can't send a simplified version since I need ALL models smooth when rendered. I've moved the render to Cinema 4d which is where the modeling took place and that's about all I can do. I really wanted to render in EIAS because of its nice motion blur but I just learnt also that motion blur doesn't work with child cycling so moving the render to Cinema makes total sense now. Thanks again.
  3. Hi. I have a question about Encage. I have a project that uses the child cycling feature in EIAS 9.1 and it consists of a model that has about 900 child objects. The project file therefore contains 900 models and is about 50 MB in size. I would like to use Encage to smooth the model plus its 900 child objects all at once. Would Encage work in a project like this? or would it cause EIAS to crash because the plugin can't handle so many models? I was also wondering about EIAS v10. If the next update to the application contained Encage or something similar I guess I could wait and not buy the plugin now. Don't know what to do. My main issue is if Encage works with the model cycling feature. I f anyone has any experience on this please let me know. Thanks very much in advance.
  4. Renderama doesn't get any jobs I send from the main app in Mojave. Is there something we can do to make it work? Thanks in advance.
  5. Actually Jonathan Banta is the creator of the AG shaders. I doubt he can help here. I'm talking about a collection of presets for the shaders that were for sale for like 50 bucks a long, long time ago. I need to create textures for puffy clouds, sand and rocks, and it would be a good place to start since I have hardly used the shaders since I bought them and now find them kind of hard to use.
  6. Right. i see now. Thanks again.
  7. Hi Tom, I had no idea we had that... camera lens presets? where are they, or can you give me an example? Thanks.
  8. Hi, does anyone remember these AG presets package that were for sale at some site a long time ago? Star Shine gallery I believe the name was. Does anyone have contact info or know if they're still available? Anyone who bought them care to share what they were like? Thanks very much in advance.
  9. can't get enough of these old ads... I was wondering... what do they mean by 'actual lens types'? where is that exactly in the program?
  10. does this mean EIAS 9.1 works fine on Yosemite?
  11. Thanks again Tomas. It's clearer now. I'll get back to you if I have any more questions.
  12. yes please, what are the problems using photons you are referring to? This is a major improvement. But I have no idea what settings you changed. Where is the irradiance cache? Adding shadows to the reflections gets rid of the glow/washout effect I was talking about.
  13. the stills look a lot better. Thanks again for your effort. I'll have to look at the file closely to see what you changed around and will post here. Very helpful.
  14. "Brute Force" is an expression the Igors used in another thread to describe how EIAS8 does raytracing. Kind of like "slow but beautiful". I guess they meant. I'll look through the changes you made to the demo file, Tomas, and reply back. I want to use EIAS9 to render my old work files, setups, environments etc, without recreating them all over again, that's all I want. And trying to reproduce EIAS9 images in EIAS8?? that's a problem I don't have. ;) Thanks.
  15. I made a post about this issue somewhere but I am bringing this up again since it is a big issue for me and it has made me go back to EIAS8 for old projects or anything that requires raytracing. Although it is a lot faster, the new raytracing/photons methods used in EIAS9 produce worse looking images: kind of like washed out, like something out of cinema4d. This has been pointed out before, the raytracing engine has changed, some people may like it more because it's so fast, or because it suits their render workflows better but to me, images look very different and arguably worse. If you render scenes created in EIAS8 though it becomes much more obvious and unacceptable so that's why I prefer to render them in v8. Is there some way to accomplish the "brute-force" rendering method or style in EIAS9 so we get the same results as in v8? Even if it means much slower rendering times? I never felt rendering times in v8 were bad. EIAS9 has so many advantages and new features and I really want to use them, but so far it seems to me getting nice looking raytraced images is much harder on EIAS9. I would love to hear any tips from the developers as to what settings to change or what to do. To illustrate this issue please take a look at the attached images where I think the washed out effect can be clearly seen. Thanks very much in advance.
  16. Thanks Tom. Changing #Photons seems to help, but it's still not the same look unfortunately. I think I might find a way to get a very, very close approximation to the EIAS8 photons look by playing around with the HDRI, falloff and diffuse filter options in the reflectivity tab --> raytrace options. These are new to EIAS9 and that's what made me think tweaking them might help. I'll post here when I find a setting I like or that I can work with. Does anyone else have this problem? Are people just going to regenerate their photons scenes from scratch?
  17. Don't know where else to put this- I really like EIAS9 so far and how fast it is. On the topic that there is a possibility that the new version renders some things a little differently... I have done some light testing and it looks like an EIAS8 GI scene rendered in EIAS9 looks pretty much the same. that's good. Scenes that use photons, however, look a little different: It's not much, but definitely noticeable. I've attached a project file originally created in V8 to illustrate the difference, with two renders: one on V8 and one on V9. I wonder what settings to tweak in EIAS9 to make the renders look exactly like in EIAS8? This would save me some time so I don't have to recreate my photons projects again in version 9... Thanks very much in advance. EIAS_8_vs_9.zip
  18. yeah, that's what I meant. An outline is better than no outline (Lion) or black screen (Mountain Lion). This is like a non-feature though, but I'm glad they fixed it...
  19. Congrats to the EIAS team. I can't believe you managed to keep all this stuff quiet for so long! I especially like all the interface enhancements and how much faster it is. This is a small thing but being able to drag windows and see where you are dragging them feels amazing. A few questions: What good is the AI/EPS import functionality if you don't have the Mrs Bebel plugin? What is the purpose of this feature? What is the status of Expressionist and Rodeo plug-ins? Are they supported by EIAS? I haven't done much testing but XP seems to work with the demo... Have they been tested at all by the EIAS team to see if they are compatible with the new dynamics system? Does XP have any new functions or hooks into the new dynamics system? Again, Congrats guys. I think this is a great upgrade and I am pleasantly surprised!
  20. I could live without renderama support, but I need to use it in Lion and soon on Mountain Lion. I'm not sure about how complex the projects I'll be doing will be, not too complex I guess... Thanks guys for your replies. Diego, are you using it in Lion? even though it doesnt work with renderama, can you get it to work as in single camera mode, as what interstellar said, rendering projects in sections and so on? Tomas, I'm waiting to hear back from them.
  21. would like to ask about Dante and Path Finder and their status. Do they work on EIAS 8 (or 9) Lion/Mountalin Lion etc. I have found out that you cannot run the Dante installer in any of these OS's (need Snow Leopard for that) so that's a pretty bad sign right there, but once installed, are there any issues? Anyone who could chime in with some info before I make a purchase would be very helpful. Thank you.
  22. Thanks for your reply Tom. sounds like it could be just me... I am trying to reproduce this issue on a simpler project (this one has a few hundred MB in textures) but I can't at the moment. This is happening on a new iMac i got on Friday, and I think I might have made a mistake setting up renderama to use the 4 processors with the correct IP's and port numbers. I am doing that right now. I am also thinking about downgrading this machine to Snow Leopard which I believe can be done. Lion is very nice but I don't really need any of this stuff. Mission control is a mess.

  24. Yes, that is pretty annoying. The interface issue. Another more serious issue is renderama, and rendering on my quad core iMac. I'm doing a render where each frame takes 2 minutes and 40 seconds whereas if I just hit render from EIAS without renderama it takes about 1 sec each frame. Is this how EIAS 8 network rendering under Lion is for everyone else? (I already applied the patched EIAS and Camera apps btw)
