  1. Thanks for the quick response! I know you can't give an exact time but how long do you think it may be? I have a large project possibly coming up where I would need a lot of RAM and 32 bit mode probably won't cut it. btw, do you know how the EI beta team ported some of the archinterior models from Evermotion into EI?
  2. Just was wondering if anyone was using the antiqua shader in v9 and if it is working perfectly?
  3. Thanks for the responses. I've been trying to figure out a way to ditch EI modeler (because it requires an older system and I would LOVE to upgrade but....) The biggest problem I've had with OBJ is "tearing" on the rounds. I may try the OBJ again but the problem is it seems like almost no NURBS modeler tessellates well in contrast to EI modeler. I get so much "tearing" in every export I make from a NURBS based modeler if it's not coming out of EI Modeler. That's why I was asking if anyone has had success with it. According to AutoDesSys they are still trying to figure out how to get clean models out of Form•Z and Bonzai. Apparently, Spacial (the company that makes the ACIS system) doesn't have a good solution for tessellation like EI Modeler had. I tried the demo of MOI and it seemed great at first until I looked closely at the rounds. I could not get the tessellation clean Like in Modeler. I'm trying to figure out how everyone is dealing with NURBS models without EI Modeler. :-/ --------------------------------------- On a side note for those who may need to get EI Modeler running on a new Mac that ships with 10.7/8 My new Mac Pro 12-core shipped with 10.8. I imaged 10.6 onto a firewire drive and used carbon copy to bring over the image of 10.6 onto the second hard drive in the Mac Pro. Option boot and choose your system an BAM!! EI Modeler does work perfectly when running 10.6 on an Intel machine. JUST BE SURE TO MAKE SURE YOU INSTALLED ROSETTA into 10.6. This is what allows Mac PPC apps run on an Intel Processor! Hope that helps. --------------------------------------- Well, I hope we find a solution for this tessellation problem some day. -Brian
  4. Has anyone figured out how to get nice clean geometry out of rhino and into EI? -Brian
  5. Yeah, I was hoping there was a way to do it without a plugin but that would probably do the trick. Thanks! Are they still selling their plugins? Would it be compatible in v8/9? anybody have it? Because, I would have to render the animation in v8/9.
  6. Hey guys, I may have a project coming up where I'll need some cables animated and I would prefer them to not morph by interact with a physics engine. Is there a way to do this in EI with the new bullet time? Thanks, Brian
  7. Thanks so much for the help! The problem was that the settings were on "all frames" instead of "current frame" in the "timing" tab. "All frames" actually worked oddly enough in v.8 But thanks again for the help! Brian
  8. Hey guys, Was wondering if this is true for the rest of you? I cannot render a QTVR in v.9. Although, if I open the scene in v.8 it will render just fine. I really hope there is a work around because this project is due really soon. Thanks Brian
  9. Already trying the demo. The camera is fast, fast, fast!!! Finally able to use 100% of my CPU power. Thanks Tomas and to the whole team that made this amazing program!
  10. Thank you for the clarification. -Brian
  11. Thanks Tom, It does work. I tried your file but once I turn on photons it turns black. Is it supposed to work with photons? Thanks Brian
  12. hey guys, First time using oren-nayer (in EI) and it turns my object black. I applied it to the diffuse tab (as the manuel says to do) but the object just turns black. I do have a few lights in the scene (for light/specular). Just wondering how to use this shader in EI. Thanks -Brian
