  1. Guess not. Well, plenty of offers out there....Substance Designer and Bitmap2material at 50 % sale through Steam looks good.
  2. Considering the topic....any EIAS christmas offers on the horizon? :)
  3. Off course, Thomas :) But if you can afford to fork out for features that comes integrated in most apps you can afford to pay for render engines. Modo's renderer is great and might suffice so you might not have to buy V-Ray......but in the end you have more options and a bigger toolbox. But it's not my choice to make......
  4. A couple of things to take into consideration. First, you have a lot of tools in Modo that you lack in EIAS, which you have to solve through other apps or plugins. Which means additional costs. Modelling, instancing/referencing, Sub-D surfaces, just to name a few things. Add to that something like the Preview Renderer which is something you' ll never consider working without when you have experienced it. And you also have thirdparty renderers in Modo. Octane plugin is in the works, and so is V-Ray, the defacto standard in arch-viz business.
  5. I know some here have mentioned or use ViaCAD products....on sale at Smith Micro. http://mysmithmicro.com/marcom/eblasts/punch/20131207/index-web.html?hq_e=el&hq_m=1246666&hq_l=1&hq_v=2b46626b42
  6. Think the last update was in 2010. Too bad that such a great app just withers away in the hands of those nincompoops called Nevercenter
  7. No, it does not. You still install your software locally, which makes it just as vulnerable.... http://www.dpreview.com/news/2013/05/08/Adobe-photoshop-cc I had decided that CS6 was my last upgrade a couple of months before Adobe made their move so frankly I don't care that much....but it is a move based on pure greed, nothing else.
  8. Title says it all. Bunch of new features, free upgrade for previous owners of LW 11. https://www.lightwave3d.com/11-5_features_overview/
  9. Silo on Windows has been the only way for me to transfer files into EIAS 8 (haven't upgraded to 9) and it really is a great program, though it may not have all the necessary features, it's workflow makes the competitors out there seem cumbersome. To bad it is more likely to become "outdated" than updated. Wish someone got their hands on it and develops it further as it is to much of a gem to just let wither and die....which is what Nevercenter has been doing with it.....
  10. Never mentioned anything about a sitting on a completed version....but you are probably better informed than me?....just going by Thomas post above which implies that it is just as likely that it is released at New Years as next week.....my point being that they should not waste an opportunity for some attention and publicity by releasing it alongside the competitors
  11. IMO it would be a bad idea to wait and bring us a "Christmas / NewYearsEve present" as that is what I expect the other companies will do. And then ANY possible attention the release of EIAS could gather will be lost in the noise of others. On the top of my head I expect a release of LW11, and Pixologic usually has something to bring to the table. I am shure the others will to. Maybe worth taking into consideration?
  12. Yup....will be interesting to see what 3 years of development brings us.
  13. Lol...the art of saying nothing....ever considered going into politics?
  14. Saying that the light is closer is kind of pointless IMO since we don´t know the length of the tunnel.... :dodgy:
  15. In regards to Modo..... http://www.cgsociety.org/index.php/CGSFeatures/CGSFeatureSpecial/the_foundry_and_luxology_merge Like Thomas like to say: interesting news....... :)
  16. Yup, that will cover it so that is good news
  17. And from a customer support POV this is deemed acceptable?
  18. Yeah, me too....to bad it is lingering in the hands of developers more interested in earning some easy bucks than maintaining this great software. I think there is a market for a small, specialised low cost modeller like Silo.... what competition do you have? Hexagon? Seems to suffer the same fate as Silo currently......and IMO the workflow is a lot more cumbersome...Blender? Again, the workflow....plus its a fully featured 3D app......Wings 3D? Dying a slow death.....Modo? I said low cost... Now, a bit of overhauling and bugfixing, make it 64-bit, maybe some improved curve tools or better yet, take some inspiration from this: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=hAUSVwoUBiM (some modification of the retopotools to get there) and possibly Open SubD since that seems to be the future.... would make for one heck of a modeller.....
  19. Silo forum closing and moving to CGtalk.....will probably be the final death of an amazing app that has been dying for a long time, all thanksto the developers.... http://www.silo3d.com/forums/showthread.php?p=121226#post121226 Maybe a good time to make a proposition to buy Silo.....nudge, nudge, wink wink, know what I mean, know what I mean...
  20. I have the luxury as a user/customer/consumer of only seeing my side of it. And I´m not as entrenched with EIAS as I get the feeling many others here are. The problem is that the longer time that passes, the more my expectations grow, it´s like a vicious circle. And during this time I have also purchased other apps/upgrades that raises the bar. In addition the one thing that could keep my (and possibly others?) expectations on a reasonable level would be feedback from the developers/company....but they have a "keep our cards close to the chest and mouth shut" policy. So I am afraid that when the day comes it will feel like a deflated ballon....but if that stems from unreasonable expectations, or simply a disappointing feature list remains to be seen.
  21. Impatient? Can anyone possibly be more modest and humble? Taking into consideration what the user base has been pulled through since may2009 it really is a testimony to anyone still present here that they are anything but impatient...doubt the userbase has expanded much since the takeover.....and the reason is too obvious......
  22. http://www.maxon.net/en/products/new-in-cinema-4d-r14/overview.html Just to keep in line with my previous post.....the competitors keep on coming.
  23. Yup, they have removed it to iron out the typos and a few missing pictures. It will probably get back up, at latest at Siggraph. Thanks to Richard the cgchannel link will at least give you the gist of it. And you might stick to that date as a developer, Thomas, but as a customer my clock started counting the day EIAS 8 was released..so that would be May 2009....over 3 years with few signs of life.
  24. Yup, time to get back into hibernation.......
  25. http://ec2-107-21-239-148.compute-1.amazonaws.com/new_features/ Title says it all. Someone has been catching up.....and continues to do so.
