  1. Or does eias support multiple vertices uv per model? If yes, how? I would like to use the model uv space to texture (bitmap) a wood plank. Then I would like to add a dirt bitmap above but this time using the spherical mapping method. I am making a deck made of multiple wood planks inside a single model. Each plank has it's own uv. So the wood bitmap is applied to the object uv. Then I would like to apply a color variation bitmap and dust bitmap to the model by using the cubic mapping or planar instead of the object uv. This is my technique to weather models, so there is a continuity to filth/dirt from one plank to the other. I could use only the EIAS mapping method instead of UV but I have much more complex model to weather later and it won't work. This is the model rendered in Strata that I need to bring into EIAS
  2. The best way to prevent pirating is the Houdini way, they give a fully functional version for free with limited rendering capability (for non commercial use only). For 200$ they give full (for commercial use) version with 1080p rendering limit for company or individual under 70 000$ revenues. Otherwise the software is 8 000$. Houdini is a fantastic program, it's the best 3D software (of the big ones)... If you are a 400+ employees studio. I tried it multiple time and it is fantastic, but it took me 5x more time at each step to do simple things. I had to check in the manual and tutorials at every step, every time. Just to render you have to look for a tutorial and the next day you have to look again because you forgot how to. Big software like Maya, Houdini, 3D Studio, Cinema4D and Blender? are so complex, tedious and boring that each module/step : modelling, uv, rig, animation, lighting, material, simulation, shading, and rendering require a separate department with tons of people. Those software are like the military. EIAS3D is a one man army superhero like Quicksilver. For people like myself doing everything from concept, modelling, uv, rig, animation, lighting, materials, shaders, textures, scripts, simulation, rendering, compositing, sound sampling and video-editing a software like EIAS is perfect fit at a perfect price. And I did not even mention that Camera has the best AA/AAA (Antialiasing) AAver. In my 25+ years of experience with 3D CG, it is best to master a software with less features than to use a software with tons of features that you will never master. And when you watch animations made by amateurs with big software, you can see that the user was "controlled" and oriented by the software and not the other way around. EIAS workflow feel like a toolbox with self contained tools that do not leak across the software. So you never see what you don't need to see until you need it. Many simple, small and efficient tools that rarely if ever require the manual or a tutorial. EIAS is the easiest 3D software and I have tried them all since Real3D/Sculpt3D/TurboSilver. EIAS is the motorcycle of CG : best power to weight ratio. PS : I did not mention LightWave because to me it is a dead software stuck in the past. They should get rid of their modeler like EIAS did and their user interface is unusable with a anything above 1080p and the company does not give a flying f... Did I say I am waiting for my dongle and it is torture? Small price to pay to keep the pirates away.
  3. Can't you buy more than one dongle? One for each computer?
  4. It's difficult for me to say that I approve the dongle because I am waiting for it right now instead of working right away during my holidays break. I will receive the dongle in 4 days. One day I did a quote for a 2D Drafting job and the other guy was charging half of the price. I had to pay for my software (Cycas) and it was 400$ while my competitor was using a brand new Cracked/Illegally Downloaded Autocad 4 000$. He got the job and there is no laws against it (there are but they are not applied). It should be prison. People prefer to crack MS Office than use Libre Office and they prefer to steel Maya than pay 100$ for Cheetah3D or any other reasonably priced applications. Have you noticed that all mid-range 3D animation software are gone? There used to be plenty in the 90's to the early 2000. EIAS is not expensive, but eventually it will if you buy all the amazing plugins and shaders. It would be nice if EIAS could sell older versions at reduced price for amateurs or curious people with no support. Right now there are no one in the known world selling their EIAS.
  5. I hate dongles, but it is the best for now unless you have a very slim macbook with only one usb for charging. Online verification is annoying, and I even experience a server not responding so I could not open the software for a day. I would prefer a bluetooth or wifi dongle (a la chrome-cast). One major pros of the dongle is that if one day EIAS inc. close it's doors, EIAS3D will still work forever. The day you remove the dongle protection, everyone will start using EIAS3D and stop paying, then no more updates. Even if EIAS was 30$, people would still steel it. Sadly humans are born sinners. Count my vote for the f... dongle.
  6. What I need to speed up animation in OpenGL while always rendering the final model. Tree(parent) -tree_lowrez 100 polygons (visible in animator and invisible in camera) -tree_highrez 1 000 000 polyogons (invisible in animator and visible in camera) I found a not so perfect way to do that with : -tree_lowrez : Animated visibility off (so it does not render) -tree_highrez : Shading to none (to make it invisible in Animator) Problems : I still get a box around the lowrez tree When animating/previewing in opengl the lowrez model dissapear Is there a checkbox that I missed somewhere?
  7. I know how to do it inside a single material, with many layers of masks and reactive maps in each channels. But my question is can we stack different materials and mix them? Example : planar polygon (rectangle) to represent wood door with bronze ornements added by textures and material only (not by modeling). 1st material : old antique tainted and varnished wood (dull material) -Image : Wood 2nd material: spotted bronze (with a lot of specular and reflection) -Image : Mask for cutting buttons and ornements -Image : bump mapping for buttons and ornements I would like to put the second on top of the first one. In many 3D software you can stack materials with masks and even use blend modes or you can use the material/node editor to mix 2 or more totally different materials. I could not find any example with electric image. Maybe because the shaders are so amazing and self contains (They affect a lot of channels at once) My usual technique for weathering 3D models. Material layers 1-Base material 2-Color variation blend (add) 3-rust (add with alpha mask) 4-dirt and dust (multiply) I don't know if a model in eias3d can have more than one material. And don't know if it's possible to add/mix/stack/blend them. So do we have to add tons of reactive masks inside each channels to achieve this? Just found a simpler example : a cement floor with puddles of water scattered all over it. They are completely different material with totally different properties.
  8. Is this motion capture or animated by hand?
  9. Does SimCloth works on eias 9.1 I am asking because it is not included in the demo version. Is it included in the full version? If not why?
  10. While browsing plugins on the eias3d website, the link to Northern Lights brings me to an empty website. Is this temporary? Is Psunami available and alive?
  11. The only feature to rule them all would be a Node Material System a la Renderman/Houdini/Cheetah3D... With a feature like that we would not need any special shader plugin anymore (not entirerly true). Or a render man compliant shading language/system that would compile when closing material dialog.
  12. Now mayor Coderre is killing dogs while ignoring violent street gangs.
  13. I am running EIAS3D 9.1 demo on mac with a 27" apple thunderbolt display 2560x1440 (not even 4k). The problem is that all the buttons and the text are really small, almost to the point of being unclickable and unreadable. Is there a way to rescale/resize the ui elements to a more comfortable level other than lowering the resolution or increasing the zoom/scaling on windows? My concern is for the future, when my monitor stop working I will go for a 4k screen and I won't be able to use EIAS3D anymore. This problem is so serious that Lightwave is loosing a lot of users because they failed to even recognized the problem. For now I can deal with it, but as I get older and the screen dpi increase I won't.
  14. I did the anywhere later but forgot to recopy the folder from the main package. Now it is working perfectly.
  15. -Bigger UI (buttons and text) everything is so small on my thunderbolt 3k display. -Animator native subdivision -Particles (smoke, water ...) -Clothing -Hairs/Fur -One website and store for all plugins : apple store, google play store and now EIAS3D store. -Your website still use Flash and it does not work on mobiles and my Safari is complaining. EIAS3D has the best ui colour theme of the industry.
  16. "EIAS3D OS X Dongle Installer.mpkg" will fail to install and tell me that it is not compatible with my os version. I click the continue anyway and it will fail to install. Then Animator does not start and I don't remember the message. Partial solution : (Animator works fine but without Camera) I use the right click on the "EIAS3D OS X Dongle Installer.mpkg" and Show Package Content. I navigate inside the folders and install both "superpro32.pkg" and "sentinel.pkg" one after the other. Then when trying to start Animator i get the error : Cannot allocate needed 3D Icon... So the final step is to use the "Show Package Content" on Animator and navigate to Animator/Contents/MacOS/ and open the "Animator" from there. Animator is now working but rendering does not. When I try to render, Camera will try to start but macOS tells me it is from an unidentified dev. So I go in Settings/Security&Privacy/General there is a message : Camera was blocked from opening... I clicked [Open Anyway] Now Camera is opening but there is no window. Strange since I can open camera now from Finder and it will show a window. I tried to start everything from the command line with the sudo command sudo ./Animator without success. Anyway did everything I could... as a future potential buyer/user.
  17. I found the problem: the uv need to be activated in the object/shading properties. I feel a little rusty after not using EI for more than 10 years. Sorry for wasting your time, you can delete this post.
  18. Im am trying to import an object with uv coordinates in EIAS 9.1 Demo. I exported with : StrataCX, Vue, Silo, AC3D. To these file format : .obj, .lwo, .fac When I try to activate the UV space in the material editor I get the error message : "The UV space is set as default for this texture, but it will not be used because the UVs are missing or disabled" The uv are in the files because they are loaded correctly between different 3D software. This is my .obj file (you can see the vt are there): mtllib mybox.mtl v 114.000000 182.487000 -70.439270 ... vt 0.677383 0.999839 ... vn 0.000000 1.000000 -0.000000 ... usemtl mymaterial1 f 1/1/1 2/2/4 3/3/7 4/4/10 ... usemtl mymaterial2 f 5/5/14 7/9/19 2/10/5 1/11/3 ...
