  1. Diego, 8k sort of scares me.......never mind the 60fps! Max I've ever had to do is 1080P/25fps.
  2. Yep, using 9.1 and all has been fine since v8. By the way mate, I'm not sure you have realised - this is Al, I did some modelling for you over in Siem Reap a few years back.....how's it going these days? I'm the same as you, I can't justify the price tag for the powerful macs anymore! It's a surprise to me you're getting problems with PC rama, as I had it down as a more solid way around than with a mac master! Let's try to get to the bottom of it......are you on windows 7?
  3. Hi Well this is interesting as I have never had a rama problem with a PC master and that is even using mac and pc as slaves. I've had 2 previous set ups with Mac masters - one worked after trying a couple of things and one didn't, but thinking about it, I may have forgotten to try out the previous fix as I just jumped straight onto using a pc master again as it was the faster machine. The fix that worked for Mac master to Pc slave - create static ip adresses for the machines, give it a try. This may even fix Pc master problems....let me know how it goes.
  4. An MDD export would also be good??? :) I'm thinkng particularly to work with Marvellous designer...... Exporting to bvh is ok, but you lose your weight mapping.
  5. windows to windows works fine here and everything is set up very basic using windows 7. I had a problem with slaves not even opening on a mac and this was down to using an additional router to connect all the machines together. Swopping this router with an ethernet switch sorted it out though as I think it was somthing to do with ip address issues conflicting between the internet router and the extra router I was using for the network. Are your ip addresses on your network changing much?
  6. Hello people, I hope you are all well and maybe someone has had a similar problem before. Take a look at this screen shot of what happens when I try to paint strength maps - - - - -> https://www.dropbox.com/s/eobjgij169brl85/pixels.jpg Everything works fine on my old iMac, but the problem is when used on a PC, even with the latest GEforce card. I'm trying to narrow down what it could be, but it's harder to do when I'm not even sure what you could call this type of problem? There's quite a lot of options for the Graphics card so very difficult to know where to start! Anyway all the best. Al
  7. You can use more than one monitor on a PC, just press the 'restore down' in the top right corner of the application window, then you can drag the outside pane of the application window as far as you like. It's not as flexible as on a Mac but it is usable.
  8. Just add 'Fog' in the layers shader, you'll get all you need to do your depth of field in post!
  9. Thanks Tomas! That is exactly what is needed! Perfect and simple! And actually much easier to set up than the Blender example I saw and thought was a nice function. Good man!
  10. Any ideas when Tailor will work with V9??? Pretty please :)
  11. Thanks for the ideas fellas, animating visibilty is sort of one step better than what I did last time. Fantomaz, thanks for the video, that makes sense how you did that. The crane animation I did actually had to put a structure together of around 50 steel pieces and using 2 cranes at once, you can imagine how many crane to peices of steel set ups it needed, even with your technique, it would still need all this set up. I was really hoping constraints would work somehow, I say this while not knowing fully how they work, I use 'look at' a lot and that works well. I haven't found any use for the others and I bet they could be useful. I was looking around at tutorials for other software, just to see how they go about this sort of thing and blender had a good way of doing it that was similar to a constraint and the strength was animated to full when needed etc. It would be really good if we could do this! I'll try to mess around with the constraints and see how it goes........
  12. Hello there, Does anybody know a good way to pick up an object with a hand or machine? I was thinking constraints at first and then animating the weight but that didnt actually change the power of the controlling object, maybe I'm missing a setting somewhere.... I did an animation recently of a crane lifting steel around a site and actually had new scenes set up for every time something was picked up or put down. Afterwards I thought, there has got to be a better way to do this! :) A bit like animating the parent power would be perfect I think? Al
  13. This does look great, but Scott don't rely on the .fbx import at all, I've never been able to import anything through into Ei this way, not even still models.
  14. Hey Tom Yes I'll give the Vehicle plug-in a try, I can see it will do the job really well. I was looking to be able to control the amount of cars on a path for speed of set up and changing the volume of traffic. I think Pathfinder plugin might do the job maybe?
  15. Hi Steven Thanks for that, yes that would be more than good enough for what I need. I was trying not to do it all manually if possible but I suppose once one path is done you could just copy the effector and move the keys in the timeline a bit for the next car. I'll see how it goes....
  16. Hi Tom I think with this situation, I could just add a spinning wheel movie on the wheels and that would be ok as the camera will not be going too close. Does Flock This have the ability to keep the objects on a path? (to keep the cars in lane) From the examples I can see that it will stop collisions and follow terrain, but it shows the objects with a random movement. So maybe I could tell all cars to follow A Leader and the Terrain without any random sideways movement, sort of like how ants follow each other in a line. Is this possible with the plugin? Thanks Al
  17. Hi there Can anyone who has the 'Flock This' plugin tell me if I would be able to create travelling cars on a road? With a main feature to be able to switch from heavy traffic to little traffic. They would basically only need to stay in lane and at a certain distance from each other. Also it would be nice if they could slow down at intersections if there is traffic in the way. This might be too much to ask but if anyone has any ideas, that would be a massive help. Thanks Al
  18. Hello there I'm having some trouble with the 64 bit shaders crashing Camera? I'm using Shade bevel and tried the other 64 bit shaders to test and it happens to those too. Anyone have any ideas? Thanks Al
  19. Hello there I've been asked to export some animation to Unity 3D. Has anyone done this before? I think FBX might be the best route, is there any way to export to this? Thanks Al
  20. Hi Tom Sorry I've been really busy, I'll send it to you when I get a chance. Al
  21. Hi Tom Sorry, the After Effects frame problem works fine since version 9, I'd started to use TGA to have separate frames for animations and hadn't tested the new version. I'll send you a simple proj for the TGA/Rama when I get the chance. Thanks Al
  22. Hello there I've been rendering to TGA sequence since version 9 and have noticed if Renderama is quit, the rendered % of job returns to zero, even though it does add the frames together on re-opening Rama. I did a test with EI image and PNG sequence and that works fine. Just wondering if anyone has this problem? The only reason I stopped rendering to EI was that After Effects reads the frame rates differently for some reason. I can use PNG so no problem. One thing I did seem to notice on this test, is that the EI image and PNG seemed to render faster than the TGA. Al
  23. Going pretty well AVT, I've been practicing a lot since the job I need the animation for has been moved to some time this month. The independent hip is great, a well done rig and weight mapping really makes animating a character a lot easier than I thought it would be. Good job man, I couldn't have attempted this job without your tutorials :)
  24. Hi AVT Thanks for the reply, I've sent you over an email. Al
  25. Hello there Does anybody know where you can buy the ReadyRigs tutorials by AVT? Not much luck in contacting the creator myself. Hopefully someone might know? Thanks a lot Al
